November 23, 200619 yr I completely agree. It will take the course of the season for players to solidify their roles, get used to rule changes and fall into synch with one another. Should get interesting. Morehead St. to the Final Four? Anyone? Anyone?

Kind of adding on to this point, I have never been a supporter of the NBA age limit rule.. the NBA was taking a lot of these impact players you are referring to, and as a fan of NCAA b-ball, it is good to see these kids in school. However, I think it will decrease the chances of mid-majors succeeding... hopefully I am wrong.

Oral Roberts beating Kansas, and Nevada in the top 25. Usually the early season is when the powers run mid-majors into the ground, not the case this year for the mid majors are having a terrific first two weeks of the season. Furthermore look for the Bradley Braves to do some damage, as well San Diego State.
November 23, 200619 yr I believe that... Games starting sooner, and teams aren'ta month into practice. Classic case...look at Marquette. They struggle to beat Hillsdale, beat Idaho State in OT, then beat Duke.

November 23, 200619 yr Talent level is getting distributed more, players are in better physical conditioning when entering college, All-Americans are attending more mid-majors and other schools, instead of the national powers. Coaching strategies and philosophies, are getting more balanced....Great time to be a college basketball fan. I like the balance and on any given night, a team has a chance, when never given one.

I understood your point, but I was just referring to the fact that Mid-Majors normally do not succeed untill March, now it is November and they are on a tear.
November 23, 200619 yr College Basketball is as equal as it could be. The smaller schools have marched into the traditional kingdoms and have stated their case for respect. Right now several are listening.
November 23, 200619 yr I understand all the age limit points being made in this thread, but you must think about all of the All-Americans who would've already been going to college... Now let's throw in the ones who would've went pro... They ALL can't go to elite programs so they start getting spread out a little bit... You'll see 5 star players in places that you probably wouldn't have before. Then you've got your late bloomers and your players who would normally be role players and they are without a home... They start filling up those mid-major slots and before you know it they're building up pretty good teams. I don't think this is going to effect March any more than it had before honestly... The majors will always be better ,but the mid-majors will keep finding ways to win.
