Zeke Pike

Featured Replies

Looks like Zeke Pike is getting a chance with the Indianapolis Colts. I heard some rumblings around the Northern Kentucky area and I saw this on his social media pages. Anybody have any details to this? Thoughts?

How does this dude keep getting chances?

Rather surprised to read this. It wasn't that long ago we were talking about him being arrested yet again for DUI and drug charges while he was supposed to be speaking out against that life to youth in the area.

While I'm all for giving people seconds chances, it seems like Zeke has had his fair share. If the Colts were a team I liked, I would hope this is nothing more than a favor for his dad or something along those lines.

I saw the tweet. I had previously heard Pike was getting an opportunity with the Orlando franchise in the AAF, but then the league folded. I’ve seen less talented guys get a shot, but with his history off the field, and lack of history above the HS level on the field, I can’t imagine he’s anything more than an extreme long shot. Either his agent is one of the best in the business, or some one has called in a few favors.

If he can turn his life around I am all for it.

And the Colts happen to be one of my least favorite NFL teams so I'm good.

What position? He got playing time at TE at UL.

Don’t know. I’ve only seen Pike’s tweet. The Colts haven’t announced anything publicly about signing him, so who knows if it’s official. The tweet is kind of cryptic and doesn’t say much, so it’s conceivable that he may not have been signed as a player...maybe he’s just been hired in some capacity by the Colts. He’s really done nothing as a player since graduating from high school 6 or 7 years ago.

I thought the same thing. However, it looks like he has been working out on a pretty consistent basis and he does look pretty lean and in shape.

I am shocked to say the least. The whole favor thing comes to mind for me as well, I just simply cannot see a team reaching out giving the playing experience under his belt. This kid may be at the top of the list with chances received and thrown away and received again. Curious to see what he does with this chance.

If he is 6'5", 250 and runs a 4.6, they, and others, will give him a look. I have no clue if that is where he is physically. Just saying, if he is there, people will look at him.

So where are people seeing this? The only Twitter account I saw for Zeke looked old.

Jim Irsay needs a Mississippi?

I am all for him getting his life together, but I agree with The Deuce. The guy got away with a lot of things he shouldn’t have because of who he was. He then squandered opportunity after opportunity. There have to be more deserving athletes to get a shot at the pros.

What did he "get away with"? Didn't he spend some time in jail?

Not sure what I can say without breaking BGP rules, but there were plenty of rumors about an incident or two in high school, as well as college. All rumors of course, but pretty trusted sources. Sometimes your hometown knows things.

OK. I am sure there are things that he and a LOT, a LOT, of kids got away with in high school. I thought you were alluding to one of the bigger issues he got off better than the average person.
