May 20, 20197 yr I feel like the complaints about them rushing things are absolutely justified. They definitely rushed the ending because the head guys wanted to move on to other things. HBO offered to give them more money and episodes and they turned it down. I could have lived with that, but the finale was disappointing. Very disappointing.
May 20, 20197 yr I haven’t read the books but I plan to over the summer. I have seen excerpts from the books talking about it maybe a little more clear in the books. There is a part where she oks the torture of a man’s daughters to get information about the Harpies. My understanding from that clip was Dany knows the girls aren’t involved but by torturing the girls the father will talk faster. I feel like most that have an issue with Dany going nuts feel that way because of the pacing. I think most of us would of preferred a few more seasons to develop things better. If that happened how many people would of been upset with the ending?
May 21, 20197 yr They mailed in this entire season. The did at least put a stamp on it - barely. They could have gotten a full 10 episode season with some better and/or deeper story lines. It seems they knew what they wanted for an ending and except for the two battle scenes did the bare minimum to get to that ending. As for the last episode. Here were my comments as some of the scenes played out. When Jon came into the throne room without being escorted and still had his weapons I said, well she could really use a better security detail. You saw that coming just with the situation. As the dragon was spewing fire after Dany's death I said - is he going to melt the Iron Throne? He sure did. Final question - who gets the reach land once the Unsullied die off? They won't have any children to pass it on to.
May 21, 20197 yr She locked two of the three dragons up. Two of her three dragons were dead. Jorah is dead. Missande was murdered before her eyes. Jon had essential rejected her. She was very alone and those that helped keep some of worst tendencies at bay were gone. I loved Dany. Still do. I felt that she could give in to those tendencies in the right circumstances. She did. I can accept that some feel that it doesn’t track. I haven’t read the books (going to start this week) and I might change my mind about the issue after I do. All your points make perfect sense if the Bell didn't ring. All the things that happened to her made her fine to burn it all to ensure she finally got the throne. She was willing to kill them all to get the throne. Except for the fact that they did ring the bell and she knew they won. The Dany all series even during this season wasn't like that after. The only thing that changed this season was somehow after episode 3 when they beat the Night King. That somehow made Tyrion and Darys believe she was crazy and no longer fit. When literally nothing had happened that should have changed their mind. It would have been one thing if they thought ok Jon may be slightly better. But they went straight to all of a sudden thinking she was crazy, and unfit and Tyrion saying he was scared of her. When literally in episode 2 of this season he was all about her and telling Jamie how she is perfect. So nothing happened at all that should have changed his feelings on her. Except for the writers deciding to quickly change the narrative on Daenerys after the night king died to justify what they were about to do with her. It wasn't a build up that even had anything that should have made people who were loyal to her start to question her and think she was crazy, when they were fine and loved her up until after the Night King died. I could have been fine with them making her the mad queen. I guess my biggest issue was how they turned people loyal to her and loved her. Somehow against her, when literally she hadn't done anything to that point that should have changed their mind. They rushed everything and took away from a great series and a great build up with that character.
May 21, 20197 yr Then that would be going back on their word and not breaking the wheel. See that part was stupid to imo lol. It was Daenarys who talked about breaking the wheel. Yet they wanted her dead, and now they want to so what she wanted to do. So after they kill her, now they are all about breaking the wheel. Stupid! I'm hoping that Drogon took her and found a red witch who brings her back to life, and there is a series based off that. Then show her liberating all parts of the world and then after "ten years" of TV show time. It sets her her big return to Kings landing. So if that was the grand plan to set up a new series based off her. Then I will be more happy with the ending lol.
May 21, 20197 yr I don’t hate it. I don’t love it. I’m solidly on the fence. GRRM needs to fill in A LOT of detail for me to get behind this ending.

They rushed everything and took away from a great series and a great build up with that character. That’s not how I’ve viewed her since season two. When she talked of burning down cities, I don’t think she put in any caveats about exceptions for those in the city that were innocents. This was simply not something that I didn’t see her character being capable of. I agree that this season was rushed.
May 21, 20197 yr I think the poster is referring to when the reach is first offered since that takes place before they leave for the Isles of Naath.
May 21, 20197 yr They turned down the reach didnt they? They left. OK, missed that, hence why they were on the boats headed out. Apologies.
May 21, 20197 yr I think the poster is referring to when the reach is first offered since that takes place before they leave for the Isles of Naath. Right, when they turned it down and said they'd rather have justice.

Yeah but also keep in mind that they all believed in her and what she stood for until she became the Mad Queen. At one time she had good intentions and pure heart with the right ideas. Just because she abandoned that mindset doesn’t mean they had to.

May 21, 20197 yr Yeah but also keep in mind that they all believed in her and what she stood for until she became the Mad Queen. At one time she had good intentions and pure heart with the right ideas. Just because she abandoned that mindset doesn’t mean they had to. That's my problem with this show. They did start to turn on her in episode 4 and she hadn't done anything for them to turn yet. She wasn't the mad queen yet. Literally the first 3 episodes this season they did believe in her still. Yet then somehow in episode 4, which is right after they killed the Night King. They started having people who believed in her start to doubt her in Tyrion and Dary's. When literally nothing had happened yet that should have made them start doubting her lol. That is my point about how the writers completely ruined her character development, by how they tried to force peoples minds to change about her. When literally nothing had happened to have made them change. Literally episode 2 Tyrion loved her and believed in her. All of a sudden episode 4 when talking with Sansa, before she even tells him about Jon. They have Tyrion start acting like he isn't sure about her and is scared of her. At that point nothing had happened that should have made him change his mind on her. So just completely rushed and not in line with the rest of the series development.
