Arkansas will not be in the championship game. But, what a great season if they win out.

I will be extremely surprised if Arkansas gets past LSU and Florida without a loss. They have beaten two and a half good teams in the SEC (Auburn and Tennessee are good, South Carolina is decent). The rest of their schedule is highly suspect and that 50-14 pounding by USC is hard to ignore. How can you put a team in the national championship that got beaten by 36 against a team (USC) which isn't in the national championship game?

 

No team that lost a game by more than 1 TD should even be considered for the national championship game.

Exactly. Ive been saying for a while now that Arkansas deserves a trip to the NC Game, if they can go 8-0 in the SEC. But Im a firm believer that if ANY team can go 8-0 in the SEC they deserve a trip to the National Championship. But we all that the SEC is weak and couldnt hold the Big 10's jock:rolleyes: But I hope the stars align and an SEC team gets a shot to show a little muscle. If Arkansas sweeps the SEC and Michigan gets another shot at the title, then the NCAA should be ashamed. I already disagree with the system but if its got to be this way, and it does, at least be fair about it. Ask Auburn, Im sure they dont like it.

Whoever plays Ohio State for the NC will have their hands full. OS is a great team and IMO will win the NC. And I'm not even a OS fan, but I will give credit where credit is due.

Not quite. One or two close games against poor teams (2-9ish) is OK if there are offsetting convincing wins against quality opponents. I understand that it's hard to get up every week of the season, especially against weak opponents. A win is a win, and when a team can go undefeated, that says a lot (even if some games are close). BUT, if a team loses by more than 1 TD, I have a hard time buying the idea that they deserve to make the case that they're the best team in the country. A loss by 7 or less could be the result of a fluke play, call, etc. But you can't square a loss by 36 points (in Arkansas' case) with a claim that they deserve a shot at the National Championship over other teams with one close loss to a quality opponent.

I know everybody's in love with the SEC, but quite frankly, if I were an SEC fan I would be extremely embarrassed if an undefeated team from my conference had been hammered 50-14 by an outside team. There is a lot of parity within the SEC this year and everybody's beating up on everybody else, but let's face it--if Louisville or West Virginia had gotten crushed by a team from the Big Ten or Big 12 and then rolled through the Big East undefeated, people would say that the Big East must be weak. Same thing would have happened if Ohio State would have lost by 4 TDs to Texas and then gone undefeated in the Big Ten.

 

Regardless, I think people are getting all worked up for no reason--I expect the Razorbacks will stumble against LSU or Florida and all this will be a none issue.

I'm saying a close win over a weak opponent is not a reason to disqualify a team as long as they have quality wins over good competition. However, a loss by more than one TD should raise a lot of questions about whether a team is worthy of staking their claim of being the best team in the land.

This is the season all BCS haters have waited for. I think it is wonderful to totally expose this biased system for the political farce that it really is.

Even though Notre Dame got spanked by Michigan. My opinion is that if the Irish beat USC and Arkansas beats Florida that your Title game will be between Ohio State and Notre Dame. Love them or Hate them the Irish in the National Championship game would bring the ratings up for the game.

No way. Now that Michigan has finished its season, I think there's zero chance the Irish make the National Championship game. After the drubbing they took at home from the Wolverines, ND could beat USC by 3 TDs and still get snubbed.
