ladiesbballcoach
One of the announcers on NBC Sunday Night football said the thread title. Costas called him on it over Jim Brown. I would be willing to go Rice as 2nd BEHIND Mr. Brown, but to me there is very little debate that Jim Brown is the most dominant and best NFL player of ALL TIME. MountainThunder
A good argument could be made for both of these guys. Rice never touched the ball in a game as a WR as much as Brown did as a RB. Both were the most dominant at their position. I would probably list them as 1A and 1B. I can't think of anyone who would be in the conversation besides these two. Rice dominated from a position that noone was used to seeing players dominate from. nkysportslegend
Definately goes Brown at the 1 and Rice close behind at 2.
cvillecat
I agree with Jim Brown as the best ever. I would also add Jerry Rice as the best WR I have watched. What I liked about Rice was his work ethic. I don't think anyone out worked him, especially in the off season.

Hatz
Here's a question for you in the debate. How much do "rings" matter? Jim Brown won only one NFL Title if my memory serves. (1964) Jerry Rice won 3 I believe (1988, 1989, 1994). Some put heavy emphasis on titles. How does that work with Jim Brown?

gametime
What's his NFL shelf life? Have you ever seen him get hit hard? I think he's around for a while, and no doubt longer than Brown...
HammerTime
What's his NFL shelf life? Injuries will be the only thing that can stop him. He's unreal.

IAmAFan
IMO the best five players ever to play the game have to be QB's.
ladiesbballcoach
It only takes one bad fall. I agree. One less awkward fall on a tackle and Bo Jackson might be in this conversation.
5wide
I agree. One less awkward fall on a tackle and Bo Jackson might be in this conversation. We can't predict injuries though. LT has stayed healthy his whole career, so we don't have any reason to expect him to go down. I think he's the best running back I've ever seen...I used to hold that spot for Barry Sanders, but I think LT is better. He's on top of his game. He's the best in the league right now.
