November 19, 200619 yr He's got a great glove but as a Red Sox fan that had to watch him this year. He doesn't do the little things with the bat and he thinks he's got 30 HR power and he sits out with the least little tweak. You just paid a bunch of money for a SS that will hit .260 with 14-18 HRs and 45 RBIs and will look good in the field until when it counts. They should have given Phillips another year. At least he had a ceiling.
November 19, 200619 yr How good is Gonzalez at fielding the balls sailing over the wall at GABP if the Reds don't get some GOOD pitching soon?
November 19, 200619 yr How good is Gonzalez at fielding the balls sailing over the wall at GABP if the Reds don't get some GOOD pitching soon? You have the winning post!!!!:thumb: Without some more pitching it doesn't matter who they sign.
November 19, 200619 yr How good is Gonzalez at fielding the balls sailing over the wall at GABP if the Reds don't get some GOOD pitching soon? You've been talking to Strike3 haven't you?
November 20, 200619 yr AG is on the downside. Whiffs a fair amount. After the Reds dumped Kearns and Lopez for some some potential and a bad elbow, their offense headed south. Aurilia provided some offense...Gonzalez will not. How is this team going to score runs?

I think the trade could have put them back 3 years.

November 20, 200619 yr The Cardinals won the World Series w/ Jeff Suppan and Weaver. Who are better than Milton and "insert your favorite staff member here".
November 20, 200619 yr Who are better than Milton and "insert your favorite staff member here". Pick which one of them you would call second and I'd take the Reds second. Milton is probably 4th or 5th next year. IMO he's not a terrible 4th or 5th starting pitcher for a team that will not have a payroll over $80M.
November 20, 200619 yr Phillips at 2B and Gonzalez at SS....perhaps solid defensively but not a lot of production, from the SS position. I'm guessing Weathers and Guardado, may be packaged now along with a Dunn or big name, to get some starting pitching.
