I wouldn't say please to you if Ashland won an Olympic Gold Medal.

You see Wireman laid a nice little trap for me. There is no way I can win by predicting Ashland's record this year, especially without having seen them play. If I predict for example they go 24-5 and win the region everyone on here will call me crazy, and I will get raked over the coals everytime they lose, thats assuming they do lose atleast once this year. Ask me next week after I see them scrimmage. But I will go ahead and predict that we win the region, hows that to keep you interested? You want me to predict a clean sweep of Russell this year also?

#1. If Ashland plays poorly you will get on here and talk about how mad and embarrassed you are.

 

#2. If Ashland plays poorly you will initiate the "silent treatment" to all of the threads that pertain to games involving any rival that might happen to be superior to Ashland.

 

#3. If Ashland plays poorly you will change your avatar midway through the season to coach Wilcox and proudly proclaim and crown him the latest and greatest to wear the highly coveted title of "my boy".

Also, McDavid had an enlarged spleen so I doubt he would have been able to play anyway.

Bottom line is all those guys quit. If they do not want to play why do you need or want them on the team? They have 15 players on JV/varsity and 11 on the frosh. Only 4 seniors, that gives them 22 to choose from next year. As was stated before all on the above mentioned list it was well known they were not going to play. It is my understanding they were up front with Coach Biggs and just said they did not want to do it. Mom cat before you blame the coaching staff why not look at the players themselves. If they do not want to play that is ok. Sometimes kids just don't want to commit to something that is so time consuming. Again nothing wrong with that or the staff. :thumb:

I'm pretty sure that McDavid was out for most of the season. They found out he had this mid way through and he didnt play any games or practice for the rest of the season.

Also, I believe that Cody Plank had decided to stay with the team this year.

You are exactly right.Ashland is much better with 14-16 kids that want to play than having 20-25 with some that are on the "fence".Although I am not associated with the Ashland program I know several of the players and their parents.They have had nothing but good things to say about Coach Biggs.There seems to be an excitement this year that has been absent the past few years.

Can anyone give an honest appraisal of the talent remaining on the team at Ashland? Is it realistic for GIAT to be hinting at "championships" or is this really looking through maroon glasses? I know they have Thomas, Wilcox, and McDavid but is there really anyone else with good talent? Also, the younger players appear to be fairly sparce on potential.

 

Biggs may be a good coach but he needs material to build his "machine" particularly when Russell, Elliott County, and a couple of others are ready for the battle.
