May 20, 20197 yr You're a lucky guy. Your buds are 100% correct. Hope you get to play all 4 courses, plus the Par 3 and leave a couple hours for cocktails and a hilarious time in the Punch Bowl. Until you do it, you haven't experienced the fun of losing a few bucks over a 200 ft. downhill putt that breaks 5 different directions. Lots of stories. Love to hear about your experiences. Biggest challenge is getting there! You'll understand later. I will certainly post my experience on here when I get back. I understand getting there is not easy...flying from Cincy to San Fran to Portland and then a 4 hour drive to Bandon (at least I have been told it is 4 hours).
May 20, 20197 yr I will certainly post my experience on here when I get back. I understand getting there is not easy...flying from Cincy to San Fran to Portland and then a 4 hour drive to Bandon (at least I have been told it is 4 hours). Correct, and often it is only two lanes. But, it is totally worth it. Beyond expectations! If our Lord wanted to provide a Heavenly golfing experience on earth, I think it would be Bandon Dunes.
June 6, 20197 yr So I’m watching the Canadian Open and there’s a player named Ryan Yip. Kind of an unfortunate name for a golfer.
June 9, 20197 yr We’re having our annual Sag Hollow Invitational this weekend in Booneville and was expecting the usual number of golfers that we have each year, around 65-75. But the forecast of rain yesterday led to around 20 cancelling out at the last minute. We still have 50 but it had been setting up to be a good field of golfers, with about 12 in the championship flight, which is declared by the golfer beforehand. And wouldn’t you know.....it didn’t rain a drop yesterday. Other than being humid the weather and playing conditions were fine. Regardless, today will be interesting in all the flights. The championship flight should be a battle between some very good golfers: Eric Mason (played at WKU and 2 time State Am champ), Randy Osborne (played at Morehead St), Zach Norris (UK freshman), Matt Gann, (played at Morehead St), Trey Bowling (played at EKU and former Ky Open champ), Kelby Robinson, Robert Smith, and Cody Pennington. Hope today’s weather mimics yesterday’s.
June 10, 20197 yr Went on a guys trip this past weekend to Stonecrest. First time I had been there. What an awesome layout!! It was soaking wet, but still in great shape. The greens were just about perfect. I played terrible, but we had a really good time and everywhere we went in Prestonsburg, the people were super nice.

Not familiar with Stonecrest. The course I played had a swinging bridge over the river. Might have been Paintsville (memory?).
June 11, 20197 yr Been many years since I played in Prestonburg. Not familiar with Stonecrest. The course I played had a swinging bridge over the river. Might have been Paintsville (memory?). That's Paintsville CC. The scariest cart ride in the state, hands down.
June 11, 20197 yr That's Paintsville CC. The scariest cart ride in the state, hands down. Wait...you drive the golf cart across a swinging bridge? Hmm? Is there a plan "B"?
June 11, 20197 yr That's Paintsville CC. The scariest cart ride in the state, hands down. Thanks for bringing back memories. Wasn't there something else crazy like a front 7 and back 11? But, I do remember really enjoying the course and the clubhouse staff.
June 11, 20197 yr Wait...you drive the golf cart across a swinging bridge? Hmm? Is there a plan "B"? Not if you want to play 18. Although you could walk.
June 11, 20197 yr Wait...you drive the golf cart across a swinging bridge? Hmm? Is there a plan "B"? Paintsville’s swinging bridge for carts is probably the only one in the nation. Crosses the Paint River. Interesting and fun feature to the course.
June 11, 20197 yr Paintsville’s swinging bridge for carts is probably the only one in the nation. Maybe that should tell you something. :lol2:
June 11, 20197 yr UK Wildcat sophomore to be, Zach Norris of McKee, won the championship flight of the Sag Hollow Invitational over the weekend in Booneville. He shot a two day score of 70-67 (137) -7 and edged out Randy Osborne by 1 shot. Eric Mason was third and Matt Gann of Pineville was fourth. Although we had had flash flood and 90% rain forecast we only had a few sprinkles both days. The weather was very cooperative. But the forecast did hurt our number of players. Around 20 golfers cancelled out at the last minute and we ended up with 50 in the tournament, and five flights. If anyone is interested in playing next year our tournament is always the second weekend of June.
