Ladies and Gentlemen, good afternoon.

As announced, I will give my projection for that little football game tonight over at Maxwell Field.

Both teams come in highly ranked. Neither has lost a game to a Kentucky opponent. Neither team has faced an opponent with as much balance in their offense and possibly neither team has played against another with as much overall team speed.

I watched the 10 minutes of St X/Trinity game available on Insight and was impressed with Trinity's defensive speed and aggressiveness. Not much opportunity to evaluate the Rocks' passing game, though. I also watched the 2002 Male/Trinity 4A final (also coach Coverdale offense). I noticed that there were several Trinity big plays (at least two) where the defender simply didn't pick up his man and the receiver was completely open with no coverage. Male has to avoid this and I believe they will. I also believe Male will play Beaumont at least 10 yards off the LOS nearly every play on defense (maybe they will drop two safeties) and I think this will help them prevent the big pass play. I expect Male to get pressure on Petrino from around the ends and through the gaps. If dropping 2 safeties, causes the Rocks to go to their running game and short yardage passing game, so be it--it will force them to string together drives and convert first downs. I expect the Bulldogs will get some stops of defense.

When Male is on offense, I think Gainey's scrambling will set up some big plays through the air. I also expect Beaumont and Hobbs to move the ball on the ground and with screen passes. This will be key if they are to grind out long time-consuming drives that will shorten the game.

Prediction:

Male 35

Trinity 28

What was Jody's prediction and where can it be found?

Jody's prediction is Male 49, Trinity 35. It's in "The Book" (page C6) and is at the bottom of the "Games of the Week" listing.

If Bob Redman is wise enough to utilize dual safeties on defense, one of whom is Beaumont, similar to his alignment in the 2nd St. X. game, Male will win this game 34-21. If he has gas on the brain, and tries to play against Trinity's bunch attack, utilizing 11-men in the box and total man coverage, the game will go into OT, and it's anybody's game.

I just can't see Trinity's defense being able to contain the multiplicity and speed of Male's offensive attack.

Is this game on the radio? I didn't see anything in the paper today.

TD, didn't you say it was going to be on 1080 earlier?

That is what I thought but I was talking to one of my buddies at the radio station and he said that Male wouldn't let them broadcast on 1080.

Surely the powers that be at Male are not going to treat Trinity radio in the same fashion as Ballard and Eastern. The place will be jammed with people whether it is broadcast or not.

It's supposed to be on AM 900 WFIA.

Was the X game last week on the radio? In the past, if St X lost in the playoffs, the Bisig crew would continue to broadcast the subsequent games involving Louisville teams. Maybe they're doing the broadcast this week?

Not listed in the paper!

The key question is (paper listing aside) "Is it or isn't it going to be broadcast, and if so, on which station will it be aired?"

I was told at the Athletic office at Trinity that the game would be broadcast live on 900AM.

Just called T...it will be on AM 900
