On a sour note, Dickie says that there is no way the Golden Eagles will beat Rockcastle next week. In other words, he just belittled both teams that played tonight.

Dickie does not do much to promote goodwill for the excellent Tomcat program and its classy coach. To his credit, he does a great job of letting you know who made the plays on both sides of the ball, but there is no excuse for his classless commentary.

Dickie is who he is. He doesn't say things like that to belittle anyone. He is merely expressing his opinion. He has been right more often than he has been wrong when he makes such statements, and to his credit, I have heard him eat crow MANY times on air.

Everyone on this board - and I do mean EVERYONE - expresses their opinion. We all understand that each school has fans that are realistic, some that are blind to anything remotely resembling reality, and most that are somewhere in between. Dickie doesn't care if his opinion offends you or me - regardless of whether you are a Tomcat supporter or if you follow an opposing school. Believe me when I say that he has offended as many Ashland parents as anyone. That said, he doesn't do it for the sake of running someone down - he does it for the same reason we all do it - he believes what he is saying.

If the people on this site were as willing to step up and eat crow as Dickie is, some of these prediction threads would be twice as long as they are - with half the posts coming AFTER the ludicrous claims are exposed to 20/20 hindsight.

I was wondering if anyone else heard this quote! JC better play 4 quarters next Friday and take better care of the ball. Rock came out and punched Bell right in the mouth tonight.

Poor Dickie. Foot in mouth again. He is fun to listen to. He even got excited when JC scored the winning TD. I'm sure he would take it back if he could.

I can't say enough about how Coach Hart handles himself in his post game comments. Dickie's sidekick started rattling on on and about how bad the refs were in the first game and how they were even worse tonight, and Coach Hart declined to chime in and refocused the interview on how proud he was of his players and how they had opportunities to win and just came up a big play or two short:thumb: . Ashland has a keeper in Leon Hart, IMO.

Congratulations to JC. Big win for a program on the rise. Good luck next week, and hope to see you in Louisville.

Congratulations to Ashland - a team that was predicted by most to take a serious tail whipping tonight. The staff had the kids ready to play, and they stepped up. No shame in losing to a team as talented as JC, on a night that they played as well as they did.

I agree. Coach Hart had a great game plan tonight.

I would like to congratulate all the Tomcat seniors for a great season. I enjoyed watching you play this year and good luck on the rest of your senior year and your plans after High School.

Looks like it'll be Rockcastle County making the trip to JC next week. Anyone know anything about Rockcastle this year?

I'm sure Matney will have the Eagles prepared, but it'd be nice to know what's around the corner.

When you deliver a sneering prediction just minutes after the team that beat your team twice to the effect that JC has no chance next week, you have no class. Will it occur to him that he just smacked his beloved Tomcats in the face as he belittled the Golden Eagles?

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I somehow doubt that good ole Dickie would have proclaimed that Rockcastle was a shoe in next week if the Tomcats had pulled this game out. He should think a little bit during his commercial breaks before keying up the mike after a loss.

Should be a dandy next week--congrats Eagles

A Train, a big locomotive with lots of momentum!!!!!!!!;)

Seriously though, I want to congratulate JC on a big win and not giving up when they were down. That is one way great teams start to prove they are for real. As I have said all year you gain respect one step at a time and JC took one more step tonight. I am looking forward to the Rock vs JC next week. Best of luck to JC, but myself I'll be pulling for my Alma Mater the Rock.

Ashland great season and you played a great game tonight.

First I must say this Ashland team wasnt the same Ashland team JC played a few weeks ago. They came ready to play.

Johnson Central showed that they have heart. I mentioned in the prediction thread, that I would like to see what would happen when JC got down. And boy was I impressed.

Tommy Taylor was the player of the game imo. He had 2 awesome td catches.

Get over it. This game was too good for you to whine about the Ashland announcer. If Ashland had won, he would have said the same thing. He says what he thinks just like the rest of us.

For those of you that dont know... Jim Matney and his wife Debbie had their baby tonight. Matney was on his way to the game and he got the call. A healthy baby boy. This is the Matney's first child.

On a side note, all the JC fans would like to congratulate Coach Matney and his wife on the birth of their first child that was born around 3 pm today.

:dancingpa

Congradulations to JC on the big win. Good luck the rest of the way. Bring home the big one. I will be pulling for you the rest of the way.

Great effort Tomcats. Thats the way to go out if you have to go out. You showed that Tomcat Pride tonight. You just ran into a very good opponent in JC. Good luck seniors, its been my pleasaure watching you guys play!

You're right. Dickie's not my problem. He's yours. :thumb:

But...please keep me posted and tell me the next time that Ashland wins a district championship and Dickie predicts that they don't stand a chance in their next game. Not that I doubt your assessment of the objectivity of Dickie Martin, but I would like to see it demonstrated in such a case.
