I'm excited to follow X's progression under Wallace over the next few seasons. I really think they can make the X/T rivalry competitive again, even with both teams being good.

Next year will be very interesting for Trinity. They return a lot of very good young players, but they also lose some real talent. One thing to keep in mind is that I don't think Bob Beatty has ever gone two years in a row without a title.

If St.X doesn’t win title next year, it will be first decade without a title since the 1950’s. I do think under Wallace they will win in the 2020’s.

I would have included Scott county in Tier 1 had they remained in 6A. I would include Fredrick Douglas in Tier 2- if they were in 6A and they had more years of existence.

I consider Trinity, St.X, and Male tier 1. I give St.X and Trinity the edge over Male since Male is losing Senior class that was dominant as Frosh and carried over to Senior year. Male will still be good they just will be coming back down some.

At this moment Tier 1 is Trinity, and I don't think Male or St. X are equivalent to Trinity. So I would put Male and St. X in the same Tier.

 

Just looking at this past season St. X beat male with a back up QB and then only lost by 10 points with a freshman QB starting. While Male is good I wouldn't put them in a different tier than St. X.

Just to be clear, my Tier 1 for next year would be Trinity, Male and St. X.

Trinity, Male, and Saint Xavier will be in a class of their own until proven otherwise. With Scott County and Frederick Douglass gone, we could see a school like Simon Kenton or Henry Clay make a run towards the state title game, but the state champion will be one of those three until I see a reason to say otherwise.

I think until X settles into the Wallace era then it’s a two team Tier 1. X is definitely a step above others and just a notch below the Tier 1. And the rest are not to either level.
