The only time I have heard Brohm as a top coaching candidate has been when people have talked about who should get the UL job. Other than that I have not heard his named mentioned nationally at all, as this top coach that top programs will be fighting over.

 

Brohm has potential to be that next top up and coming coach, but I haven't heard his named mentioned in those likes yet anywhere except from this area.

 

Urban Meyer, Tom Herman, Brian Kelly, Scott Frost, etc. are all guys I know I definitely heard about when those coaches were at small schools and had great success to become that top hot national coach that all top program wanted. I haven't seen that with Brohm, probably because he hasn't done much in regards to winning to be that name yet, where he would be someone that the true top programs would want and would be excited about.

 

Put it this way if USC were to hire him after this year, and finish only 6 and 6. Most of those fans probably will throw a fit, saying that is the best we can get? Is a .500 coach from Purdue?

 

He is an up and coming coach and would be a GREAT hire for UL. However I don't think he is perceived as this national top hot coach as some on here seem to think. He may be that one day, but he isn't that yet. Those other guys I mentioned were that though.

I’m not going to act like some sort of expert on it, but I listen to college football podcasts daily when I work out. In the summertime they have nothing else to talk about besides stuff like coaches who could take over a big job the next year. Brohm was always one of the first names mentioned. He took a team that won 3 games and had the worst talent in Big 10 besides Rutgers and went 7-5 and won a bowl game. He was 100% on the radar. Those other guys you mentioned were coaching at non P5 schools.

Because he is not a house hold name and really hasn't accomplished anything that would be national news worth besides for one week in his time at Purdue.

Fair enough. I wont argue that you heard it. I know your a football junkie too, so I wont disagree that you heard that. Thats why your one of my favorites on here, even though we disagree a lot. You are passionate and knowledgeable even if our opinions differ. I'm just saying I haven't, and I bet most fans across the country havent.

People across the nation knew him. Brian Kelly had UC a field goal away from playing in the National Championship. So yes people knew and heard of him, national news. Tom Herman from his time at OSU winning the title as OC and then having that year with Houston when they beat a top team and was starting to get in the conversation like UCF nationally. All those people did become house hold names because they were winning.

95% of USC fans want Clay Helton gone. They would be happy with the hiring of Jeff Brohm. As long as Jeff changed the culture Helton has created, he would win 10+ games a year, conference championships, and always be in the discussion for the college football playoff.

USC fans know about Jeff. They are very in tune about college football all across the country.
