November 6, 200619 yr Someone asked me today if I thought AI was a top 10 player TODAY. Assuming we're basing it ONLY on who we would pick for a team to win THIS year and not somewhere down the road, here are the players I take BEFORE AI (in no order): D Wade Lebron KG Kobe Melo Elton Brand Vince Carter Tim Duncan J Kidd Rashard Lewis Dirk Shaq Chris Paul Tayshaun Rasheed (obviously character does not count on my team) Yao Pau Gasol Dwight Howard
November 6, 200619 yr In no way would I take Tayshaun or Melo over AI. Of Course I would take a dominate center over AI, but as of today Shaq isn't what he was and AI is still very determined in winning that 1st championship and still plays 110% every game. I don't think AI is a top 10 player in the NBA but he is in the top 10 guards, it's just hard to put him with Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan. I would still have AI on my team anyday simply because he is one of VERY FEW NBA players who would put their body on the line any given night to try and get a win for their team, he plays with his heart on his shoulder every night.
November 6, 200619 yr Author Watch more NBA my Brother. Warning : AI Apologist/Homer is now in the thread.
November 6, 200619 yr I would never take Sheed over AI... That's the only major problem I see with the list.
November 6, 200619 yr Kobe, LeBron, and Garnett are better. I can't put anyone else in front of Iverson. He never stops moving, plays great d, and is a scorer.
November 6, 200619 yr wow how could you take rasheed, tayshaun, and even kidd before AI. Pound for pound their is not a better player in the NBA than the answer.
November 7, 200619 yr wow how could you take rasheed, tayshaun, and even kidd before AI. Pound for pound their is not a better player in the NBA than the answer.Just a little tidbit here. I am not bashing what you said, RT05 so do not take it that way... it drives me nuts when people say, "pound for pound" (and a lot of people do it)... what is that supposed to even mean, I have just never understood it? Why does it always have to be a smaller guy? I would take Lebron any day of the week, pound-for-pound or whatever it may be over AI.
November 7, 200619 yr As far as ranking AI, he is ahead of Tayshaun and Sheed, no doubt. You are really splitting hairs with a lot of the other players listed... I guess another way to look at it, I would definetley take Bron, Mello, Nash, Kobe, Wade, Duncan, and Artest... AI falls in the next group of players.
November 7, 200619 yr D Wade Lebron KG Kobe Elton Brand Tim Duncan Dirk Dwight Howard Off your list I'd take these guys over AI.
November 7, 200619 yr Topical: After averaging 34.0 points and 9.7 assists and leading the Sixers to a 3-0 start, Allen Iverson was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the 20th time in his career.
November 7, 200619 yr Author No way is Nash, Mello, or Artest better than AI. I forgot Steve Nash. Add him to my list.

I think Steve Mix probably won player of the week back in his day. Should he be on my list? Caldwell Jones? Marc Iavaroni?
