Shaq would tell you the rook backup PG from ND is better than Kobe so I think we can all agree that his credibility is not the highest.

 

And, no, I've never heard him asked.

AI is easy to hate. He plays a different game than anyone ever. He shoots, he shoots, and he shoots again. However, he's a freak. KG is a freak too, but Iverson is a freak in the opposite direction. He's so small and fast, yet so strong. He gives off an image and attitude that makes it seem like he's a thug who only cares about himself. However, if you watch him play he runs the entire game. He goes 100% more than anyone else. HAd the Philly GM surrounded him with role players they would be better. An Aging Webber was not a good addition to the team. They didn't need a scorer they need defense because AI will get you points. When he took them to the Finals who was on his team? Not one offensive threat besides him. Wade is solid and if I were a GM I'd take Wade for the rest of his career because he's younger, but not for 1 year. He isn't as good. He played great last year and he's right there with the top five, but look at his team. 2 HOF centers. Haslem in shape and able to score, Walker played good.... Wade was the deciding factor, but if AI ever had a team that good it must have been in high school.....

Traditional? How is he different from Kobe in this regard? They both go balls to the wall for 48 minutes. They both shoot A LOT. They both scare off potential teammates.

Wow, such venom. I'm going to give you my best objective opinion on this issue. However, the whole starting a team theory is ridiculous. How about I give you what I think will have the most all-around value to their team this year. Not necessarily who will "carry" their team further, but who contributes the most (in different areas) to helping their teams win. I've spent a lot of time thinking about this, as to why I didn't chime in immediately:

That would be my All-Around Top 10 today. Using Iverson's age as a strike against him is unfair until he shows signs of dropping off, which he hasn't.

 

There aren't many guys that can give you 35 a night, he is one of them. There aren't many guys that can give you 8+ assists a night, he is one of them. There REALLY aren't many guys that can give you both. He is one of them.

 

Comparing him to a big guy is really unfair to the big guy in many cases -- AI has the ball a lot, and like it or not, the new rules favor the perimeter players. Yao is one of my favorite players, and can do a bunch, but when all is said and done he'll be lucky to be a 25 and 10 player. Is that more "valuable" than AI, given Yao's turnovers, I say no.

 

Comparing Vince Carter and / or Rashard Lewis (among others listed) to Iverson is a joke...period. Seriously, it's ridiculous.

 

You can shoot holes in my Top 10 above, without question, but in May we'll look at an analysis of who has done what this year and I'll bet those 10 are awfully close to the top in terms of all around contributions to their teams.

I would say Wade instead of McGrady, but other than that your top ten list is very good.

I think the question is, is he a top 10 talent or are you trying to build a winning team?

 

He is a top 10 talent but there is no way I would want him, Artest, Bryant, or McGrady on my team.
