November 8, 200619 yr Let me ask this, with all the talk about UofL/WVU going undefeated and playing for the NT what about Rutgers. If they beat Louisville and run the table do they deserve a shot at the title? If Louisville loses to Rutgers and the Scarlet Knights win out (including an improbable road win in Morgantown), they will fall victim to a self-fulfilling prophecy of Big East bashing. Right or wrong, nobody believes Rutgers is for real, in spite of their untarnished 8-0 record. If they beat Louisville, look for the Scarlet Knights to maybe jump into the top 10, but they will not leapfrog the one-loss darlings of the national media (Florida, Texas, USC, Auburn, Notre Dame). If Louisville loses to Rutgers, look for both the Cards and the Mountaineers to plummet in the polls, based on the belief that the Big East was a house of cards that just got knocked down. I think Louisville realizes the stakes of their game at Rutgers (at least I hope they do), and will take care of business. Hopefully, by a margin of at least 14 points. If they don't beat the Scarlet Knights, things will get mighty ugly in a hurry for the scrappy Big East. GO CARDS! :fight: :dancingpa

Go Cards. :thumb::thumb::thumb: If the Cards' game with South Florida was in Tampa this year, I would hazard a guess that Gator fans were going to try to cheer the Bulls to an upset win over the Cards to help them move up in the BCS. But since the game's in Louisville, I guess they're just confused!
November 8, 200619 yr A lot of polesters and fans are saying that it will be a close game. Some are saying that Rutgers will win and others are saying U ofL will win. The strength of schedule has come in to discussion with respect to Rutgers. With U of L on the rebound to returning to season ending form, this should be a very good game. A lot of the TV guys are saying possible upset and in general, not respecting U of L for their season thus far this year. What happens IF, I know, BIG IF, U of L rolls on all cylinders and stomps Rutgers by 35 + points, National TV, battle of unbeatens etc.... No one is really predicting this, we truly know U of L is capable of putting up some points. This is all just a thought. In general, everyone seems to be very cautious. If U of L plays cautious, they could get beat. Heres to a big U of L W... What will / can the TV common taters have to say about a big U of L victory (35+ points), assuming U of L wins out... and the National Title Game. Its not even a debate...... U of L goes because you cant say they dont deserve to be there.....
November 8, 200619 yr Author As I stated in the first post, the shoe is on the other foot this week. Rutgers is good, but a little too one dimensional on offense. That is probably the biggest difference. However, they will play sky high on emotion for about 1 1/2 quarters.

As sad as that is, it is the truth. They need to win and look good the rest of the way to have a shot at the BCS title game.

November 8, 200619 yr I think that it is indeed a double edged sword though....U of L doesn't want to go out and beat them by 50 either, that would not validate Rutgers being any good.....31-10...or something like that would be perfect.
November 8, 200619 yr What's funny is that immediately when he said that today, I thought of the 518 Texas gave up to Texas Tech when they escaped 35-31 earlier this season. and don't forget that Texas Tech was 5-3 at the time not 7-0 and ranked # 3 in the country like WV....hmmm and Texas deserves it more??????:creepy:
November 8, 200619 yr That's just how Rutgers plays. They beat you up on D, and then run right at you on O. Like I've said before, they are a more complete version of UC this year. And we all know how tight that was... Yup. I think it's extremely important for the Cards to get out to an early lead and force the Knights out of their game plan.

November 8, 200619 yr I disagree that Rutgers is a more advanced version of Cincy. I think that Cincy's offense could learn a little from Rutgers, but I don't think it's impossible that Cincy has the better defense.
