Cincinnati Reds Offseason

Not sure I would say the Reds got burned on the Latos trade. They got some really good years out of him and then flipped him for Disco.

I said it when it happened and I'll say it now, he wasn't worth 4 first round draft picks. They got 2 good years and 14 wins each year out of him and depleted their minor leagues of good young talent that could have been used for other trades. It was a reach to try to win now and it failed. 3 of those players they traded away are still in the bigs and producing 6 years later. Where is Latos?

Scooter Gennett has been removed from the list for Redsfest... Headed to the Yankees for Sonny Gray?

What is all the allure for Sonny Gray? He can become a free agent in 2020 so a 1 year rental for a guy coming off of an 11-9 year with 4.90 era and 1.496 whip. Am I missing something here?

One bad year and they need to make space for Senzel?

I understand making room for Senzel but you'll get 1 year out of Gray at the most and his best years were in pitcher friendly Oakland. He struggled in New York and probably won't be able to keep the ball in the yard in GABP.

Reds top 5 free agent signings of all time.

Without much noise from the Reds as of late, I thought this link could be an interesting read. One take away I had was the first 3 being guys that Jim Bowden saw as valuable even when they were considered castoffs from other teams. I had forgotten about the pretty good run Jim Bowden had in Cincy.

OF Jordan Patterson claimed by Reds.

Actually really like this move. Very low risk with the potential for high reward. He has been a highly regarded prospect in the past, and if nothing else could provide a left handed hitter off the bench.

Saw something the other day that Scooter and a couple of other guys had been removed due to a wedding. Don't know if all were going to the same wedding or not, but that was the reason given.

Per Jon Heyman, the Reds are "all over" Dallas Keuchel.

I love to think about things like this, but growing up a Cincinnati sports fan I call it just smoke until it turns into something.

I'd be all over hitting the mega millions, but it just about has no shot at happening.

I get where you're coming from, but when it comes to FA signings, all they can do is try. Ultimately, it's probably a long shot he'd come to Cincy, but I'm happy to hear they're making a legit effort with some of the top names on the market.

I agree with this! Also agree it's a long shot. Sometimes I'm wondering if putting some money into pushing the wall back wouldn't be money well spent in the long run. When a pitcher knows he's coming to a bandbox he's going to want a little more cash.

Sounds like the Reds are kicking the tires on a Grienke trade.
