Largest crowds for high school football game?

Featured Replies

I agree with Mike, the OC vs SO game this year was jammed packed and the atmosphere was awesome. The biggest for me was the 1988 KHSAA State Championship with duPont Manual (13-0) vs Trinity (13-0). Notables on the team were Jeff Brohm and Wes Jackson (who went on to play for UK at Center). They played at Old Cardinal Stadium and it was Jammed packed all the way around. As a player on that team it was CRAZY and LOUD!!!!

The Beechwood Cov Cath game consistently draws an insane crowd no matter the expected outcome. That's why its tough to ask BW to call it quits on the matchup even though cov cath has made it not very competitive the past few years with their increasing growth and success as a program.

I think the Bowling Green/South Warren game this year will garner a massive crowd. Unfortunately won't be able to make it, but probably will be one of the biggest crowds a Warren County/Bowling Green school has had at a football game.

The word is that in either '78 or '79 the Tilghman/Mayfield game had right at 11,000 at McRight Field. The stadium seats 8,500.

Biggest game I can recall for Highlands was when Gino was the QB and played Elder at Paul Brown Stadium. Completely filled the lower bowl. Not sure of total attendance but it was a GREAT atmosphere.

Largest attendance at a High School game I attended - Highlands vs Elder

Per Cincinnati.com "Some of the biggest games ever at Paul Brown Stadium date back almost two decades. According to the Bengals, the Elder-Highlands game in 2000 drew more than 30,000 fans and the OHSAA playoff doubleheader in 2001 between St. Xavier-Princeton and Colerain-Elder attracted more than 47,000 fans." It was a Highlands Home game so they received the money from the gate. After a long delay because they could not process all the crowd (unanticipated) they opened the gate and let people in for free. First the lower level of the stadium filled to capacity and then they opened the top sections.

Even with the free entry they still collected in the 6 figure range for the game.

HHS lost the game on a controversial play that the big screen replay showed the Ref's error but because there was no review the play stood as called. Was a good game and fun night.

I attended this game with my father when I was in middle school. The only time I’ve been in a NFL stadium. It was a really cool experience.

The 4A State Title Game in 2010 between Boyle County and Allen County-Scottsville.

Boyle always travels well and you put ACS playing for a title in Bowling Green and they whole place came.

Attendance was marked at 13,167. I think it's still a record for that State Title Game.

Bowling Green and Blackman game a few years ago, whole stands were packed and people were lined around the track it was a great experience. Also the 2008 Trinity/Saint X game.
