One half of AJ Green.

No Mixon.

No Burfict.

No Billy Price at center.

No Preston Brown.

Still almost pulled out a win on the road against a good team.

Once again my argument that their backups are always better than our backups, and I mean that about just about any other team the Bengals play. You can pay your stars what they deserve but you can't win with guys that were stocking warehouse shelves when you signed them. With the injuries in the NFL today if you want to compete through them you have to have decent backups at key positions and the Bengals won't pay backups or maybe they just can't get them to come to Cincinnati.

Yes, they weren't horrible and really were in the game until the last 3-4 minutes. The defense, I hope, was not exposed. I hope it was just a bad game. I thought Gio, AD, Boyd, Eifert/Uzomah, and the o-line played well enough on the road to win. The missed FG took away any real chance to win. The Panthers got great field position, only had to make a couple of first downs, which they did, and kick the FG to put it out of reach.

Overall, the Bengals just got beat. No bad calls, no really bonehead coaching or QB play, just got it handed to them by the Panthers banged up o-line against our front seven.

Except having to waste 2 timeouts because you either can't get the play or the personnel in. Would have been nice to have a full compliment of timeouts right before half when the Panthers were pinned inside the 5.

That's simply just the old narrative you are still going with. When you listen to nfl people around the league. The majority of nfl people say from top to bottom 1 to 53 the Bengals have one of the most talented rosters in the nfl.

In this case it was just an example of a bad matchup for the Bengals. The Bengals struggle with athletic qbs. Probably because playing in the north they are use to traditional drop back qbs. Hence why both times they have played Newton in his career. He has looked simply amazing and no where close to stopping him in 2014 or this season.

It's the nfl it happens. It's not like the Buffalo Bill's starters are better than the Vikings starters, but look at what they did to them yesterday. And the Bill's starters did that to them in Minnesota.

It's hard to win on the road in the nfl. Plus sometimes teams are just tough matchups for teams. No more no less.

...and you just keep drinking the orange kool-aid. When did the Bengals under Mike Brown ever have experienced decent backup players at other than skill positions? They sign players off of someone else's trash heap to fill cheap positions.

If stating what NFL people have said about the Bengals means I am drinking the Kool-Aid sure. However it seems like you are letting personal negative past bias effect your reality of the situation. Like it or not when people talk about the Bengals 1 through 53 roster. They refer to the Bengals as having one of the most talented 1 through 53 roster's in the NFL this season. That's not me talking, that's me being able to use listening comprehension to hear people around the NFL say that about the Bengals.

As for other teams. Please tell me all these other teams that pay any more money for backup players than the Bengals do? The Patriots sure don't. Neither do the Packers, Falcons, Saints, Vikings, etc. I know Bengal fans like to follow the old narrative, which apparently you still read. That the Bengals don't spend money, and act like all these other teams are doing all these different things. When in reality that is just not true at all. But hey stick with the status quo of keep drinking the Kool-Aid just because someone doesn't share the whole the Bengals do everything wrong narrative from the 90's still.

Just heard on one of the NFL shows that Newton said that they were going to the line of scrimmage and wherever Dre was, that is where they were throwing it. On two third and 8, the receiver went eight yards and turned around and caught the ball for a first down and Dre was playing five yards off the receiver. I think he is a weak link.

I mean what’s the other option? Throw at Jackson? That’s a losing proposition. Of course they target Dre. That’s what good teams do. Dre is not the weak link on this defense.

Bengals have one of the best backup running backs in the NFL in Gio Bernard, and they are paying him well too so let's get rid of the cheap Mike Brown excuse on that one.

The Bengals defensive line may be the deepest in the NFL. Is there a better second four defensive linemen in the NFL? More excellent backups. And they just shelled out big bucks to make sure that depth is here for a couple more years when they signed Atkins and Dunlap.

Denard is an excellent number 3 cornerback.

Fejedelem is a very good backup safety.

Tight end depth including the backups is very good.

Your move.

That Dline can't stop the run.

For what it's worth, the generic "strengths and weaknesses" chart early in the telecast had "linebackers" as the Bengals' primary weakness. Maybe that changes when Burfict returns.

It did have that as a weakness. However they also said it was listed as a weakness because Preston Brown and Burfict weren't playing. Which it is true, if those two are not playing. Then Linebacker is the weak spot.

They were just fine against the run the first two games. The running game Carolina uses since they have Newton. Is not a type of running game they will see the rest of the regular season.

The "Marvin Effect"!! Been watching it for 16 years now.

I believe I said at other than the skill positions. Let's look at the offensive line backups but wait they aren't very important so why have any of them that can fill in when needed. Your move.
