September 25, 20188 yr I believe I said at other than the skill positions. Let's look at the offensive line backups but wait they aren't very important so why have any of them that can fill in when needed. Your move. The defensive line he mentioned is a skill position? Your move.
September 25, 20188 yr The defensive line he mentioned is a skill position? Your move. I believe he talked about Gio, cornerbacks and a tight end also?
September 25, 20188 yr I believe he talked about Gio, cornerbacks and a tight end also? He did. But he also mentioned non skill position. So your only beef is the o-line? Because every other position has been covered. The Bengals are one of the deepest teams in the NFL as has been mentioned. Your complaint is off base.
September 25, 20188 yr Once again my argument that their backups are always better than our backups, and I mean that about just about any other team the Bengals play. You can pay your stars what they deserve but you can't win with guys that were stocking warehouse shelves when you signed them. With the injuries in the NFL today if you want to compete through them you have to have decent backups at key positions and the Bengals won't pay backups or maybe they just can't get them to come to Cincinnati. ...and you just keep drinking the orange kool-aid. When did the Bengals under Mike Brown ever have experienced decent backup players at other than skill positions? They sign players off of someone else's trash heap to fill cheap positions. I believe I said at other than the skill positions. Let's look at the offensive line backups but wait they aren't very important so why have any of them that can fill in when needed. Your move. :idunno:
September 25, 20188 yr I believe I said at other than the skill positions. Let's look at the offensive line backups but wait they aren't very important so why have any of them that can fill in when needed. Your move. Dude you are just completely off on this one. You also act like these other teams spend more money on backups than the Bengals. I guarantee you the majority of the teams if not all of the teams in the NFL. Don't spend to much money at all for their backup lineman. Most backup lineman in this league are aging lineman who washed out of other teams because they weren't good anymore and not capable starters, or they are drafted players in late rounds. Which is exactly the same type of backup lineman the Bengals have. You are reading the old narrative still. It's time to start reading the newer version. Which the newer version is the Bengals actually do run their team now like most NFL teams. They spend money to keep their own, they have drafted pretty well, and do have depth. Which is why as mentioned the Bengals are regarded as having one of the best rosters in the NFL 1 through 53. For some reason some Bengal fans have this perception that all these other teams are doing all these things completely different and better. When it is just not true. Especially with your argument on paying backups.

If Mike and the Bengals ran their team like every other NFL team they wouldn't be at the bottom of the NFL in attendance, (and don't give me that "Cincy is not a sports city theme", I'm not buying it). You and the other orange kool-aid drinkers can say all you want about the Bengals doing things the right way but apparently there are a whole lot more of us that don't agree with how they are doing things. Bottom line is still the thing with the Brown family and as long as Mike Brown has a lonely Christmas counting his $$ this will continue. Enjoy the Oct. 14 home game with 30,000 of your favorite Steeler fans. That's the only game that has a chance to sell out but Mike Brown doesn't care.

So you get shown how what you was arguing was not true at all, so you switch to this? As for spending what they are required to do, you have zero idea if he wouldn't or wouldn't. In the 90's and early 2000's, even if they did want to extend the very few good players they did. Those good players simply didn't want to be here because they were terrible. Like it or not during Marvin's tenure the Bengals have been more competitive than not. Especially since 2009. Players don't mind being here now, and the Bengals make sure they keep the majority of their talented guys. Do they still lose some yes, but they are not losing them just because. They are losing them because they have put a good collection of talent together, to where they couldn't sign them all. The Bengals honestly did exactly what most top teams do even in terms of Andrew Whitworth. They had an aging tackle, so they planned ahead and drafted two tackles in the first two rounds. Thinking that would be the next step. Unfortunately those two young tackles didn't pan out, but doesn't mean they didn't do it right. There are still things to complain about with Mike Brown. Like when he decided to keep Marvin Lewis here. However the stuff you are still complaining about is and hasn't been true about him in a long time. As for attendance you are also way off on that too. It is a not a good sports city anymore. I mean this team was one of the most successful teams in the NFL for 5 straight years, where the majority of NFL fan bases would have loved to have a playoff team for 5 straight years. Meaning they had a team that was winning. Yet even during those 5 straight years, the Bengals were usually bottom 5 in attendance. People complain about Mike Brown say he doesn't put winning teams out there. Well for 5 straight years they did, and people still didn't show up in relation to the rest of the NFL. Yet maybe the reason people don't show up, is because a lot of these people like you apparently can't get over the 90's and early 2000's of how bad Mike Brown was. So you rather sit back and say people are drinking the Kool-Aid, when the reality is were the ones who are actually seeing things more clear.

No need to be this bitter over something so trivial.
September 25, 20188 yr Man, it's just a football team. No need to be this bitter over something so trivial. You kool-aid drinkers seem to worry about their image a whole lot more than others do. I could care less since I stopped wasting my entertainement dollars on them years ago. It's like the movie "Groundhog day" with the Bengals. You wake up and the same things keep happening every year.

I just rather cheer them on at home than in PBS. Cheaper, easier, and I don't have to worry about getting home after beers. Well, I actually work them now, but you know what I mean. Has nothing to do with how I feel they are ran. I'm just cheap.
September 27, 20188 yr Are we all in agreement that John Ross is starting to smell like a bust? The reincarnation of David Verser? Gosh, I hope not. Ross is fast and I hope he can become the fast, reliable, successful WR that he was meant to be.
September 27, 20188 yr Are we all in agreement that John Ross is starting to smell like a bust? Yep. For me it's not the lack of production. It is the lack of effort, or perhaps better stated as the lack of competitiveness. When you aren't finishing plays and you aren't fighting for balls I think you are not long for the NFL.
September 27, 20188 yr Are we all in agreement that John Ross is starting to smell like a bust? It's hard to tell. It definitely is leaning that way. However we have to remember this is basically his rookie year, learning while playing. Which most rookie receivers struggle in the NFL. It just depends if he learns from the many mistakes he is making. Like not giving up on plays like the play last week. He has to learn he hasn't accomplished anything to get the benefit of doubt on plays like last week. I have seen Green give up on a few plays before, when he wasn't expecting Dalton to throw it to him. However Green gets that benefit of doubt, because he has accomplished a lot. Ross hasn't done anything yet, and needs to show he can do it.
September 27, 20188 yr The problem on this with Ross is I believe this same issue happened last year so I don't give him the rookie mistake excuse.
