Is that confirmed, your informed opinion or simply affirmation of a lot of rumors?

This job seems like a gold mine and a real up and coming program (Thanks to Coach Hart's efforts!). Are there any assistant coaches within looking to move up or will they search for someone from the outside.

 

The defensive coordinator, Stan Torzewski, is whom I think should get the job, but I think the administration will advertise it to the outside world.

 

Bethlehem will be down in 2007. However, they've done a pretty good job of laying a foundation at the lower levels. They compete heavily with the soccer program.

It would have to be either Madison Southern or Berea.

 

I haven't heard either is/will be open and I don't want to speculate on which it is.

Madison Southern would be a suprise to me. Coach Carter has had some down years, but he has also brought some successful years to that program that they had not seen before. His players really like him and he is well known throughout that community.

Just an opinion too, but don't think it would be Madison Southern. Yes, he is really working with his team, Offense doing great and they are only losing a few seniors. Should have a really good, more experienced team next year. Don't think this would be the year he would leave.

I heard something yesterday about a former Wahington Co. coach, who also happens to be a former Eagle(St. Joe Prep),oh yea, and a former Wildcat too! His name was mentioned for the Bethlehem job.

I was told some school in Madison County. Is it Madison Southern?

 

That would be interesting, if its Southern. They had quite a bit of coaching turnover for a few years back in the 1990s, but it seems like the current coach has done a pretty nice job. They finished 4-6 this season and it was definitely a rebuilding year after last season, and only missed the playoff due to tiebreaker. Unless he was moving on the greener pastures, I can't imagine much change at Southern.

Hancock County is open, Coach Shoulders resigned yesterday or day before

 

Did he resign to take another job, move up in the school system, or something else?

Well if it isn't Madison Southern, then it would have to be Berea.

 

The only other football school in the county is Madison Central and Kenny Turner isn't going anywhere.

I'm not saying the I know the answer for sure but Berea usually only stays with a coach for about 2 years since Stepp left. It wouldn't suprise me for it to be open.

"Rumor and fact" Two suspensions during the season has never happened here in Henderson. Even before this summer, Duffy support was not great. The AD is under fire now, and that combined with the fact Duffer's hiring was a controversy in itself. The school board and Superintendent are also under fire right now. General arguing in public venues has occurred. You can hear people in the stands talking about things including a few parents. A few former players that were not on the outs have said a few things about Tom Duffy that has people wondering. Revisiting old issues that were not investigated enough(there have been many complaints before this year). Cussing on the air (F). Allowing the team to vote not to talk to the local radio station, which has done Henderson sports a great service through the years. Players defending the coach in opinion pages of the Gleaner. Breaking a rule on purpose with many possible consequences. Just the very controversy about what happened over the summer combined with years of rumors true or not and having a varsity team that is usually around 34 players when it should be double that has made it impossible for Duffy to stay here. Tom was going to retire anyway but there was huge pressure to do something about him too. I know for a fact one player had a different story about what happened in July! Our entire athletic department is on probation! The perception around town about corrupting kids minds is something that cannot be over looked either when dealing with a teacher.

 

He won't be here next year. The right people have their butt in a sling.

We are talking about men and their jobs/lives and this is not the place for unsubstantiated speculaiton. If you are posting a rumor, you better have something very solid to stand on.

What I said has been covered in the Gleaner (online too) or local TV except the former player's comments(there are those players and parents with an ax to grind anyway) and the one Tom Duffy/player comment, which I got from two school officials. One of those is really really really solid. As for the rumors, I wrote about the rumors being problem whether they are all true or not. As for public arguing that has also been covered my all major media around here. And for how people feel about probation, radio, and administration ect., read any hot Duffy article in the gleaner and go down below that for the comment section. Channel 25 may also still have video on alot of this stuff if you search it.

6 years I believe. Gonna be hard to replace the guy, and really what coach would want to come into a program that is gonna have Ft. Campbell and O'Cath in their district and losing a bunch of seniors. Anybody heard of anything substantial as to who may replace this great guy?
