November 2, 200619 yr Marshall regretting the move up?? No way. They were very successful immediately with 5 or 6 consecutive conference championships. Their schedule has added top quality and BIG, BIG dollars from these matchups: *Tennessee is coming to town in 2009. *Kansas State showed up in Huntington *Wisconsin is on the schedule for 2007 *Miami Hurricanes are booked for 3 games. Other notables on the schedule include: Ohio State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Michigan State, West Virginia Top recruits wants to play against top teams. That is an edge to MU. They have been nationally televised numerous times. Heck, I live in Florida and have seen them play twice this year. They have made a couple Bowl games which i'm sure brought in decent $$$. Motor City Bowl, GMAC Bowl, I don't think they regret A THING! Except maybe Pruett leaving and a sudden lack of blue-chip recruiting.
November 2, 200619 yr The stadium plan has already been unveiled, and for what it's worth, it looks like it'll be a nice stadium. Too bad they'll never have the attendance to fill it. They can't fill the stadium now that they're a premeir 1-AA program, they won't do it as a mediocre 1-A. Rome wasn't built in one day it will take time for them to develop but it will come.
November 2, 200619 yr Here's the lastest news. Good luck WKU. http://wku.edu/news/releases06/november/football.html
November 2, 200619 yr Owensboro, Ky. - Western Kentucky University will be playing Division I-A football in 2009. In a 7-2 vote with one abstention on Thursday during its quarterly meeting in Owensboro, the University’s Board of Regents voted to make the transition from Division I-AA to I-A. Off topic, but why would the Board of Regents meet in Owensboro. That seems kinda odd.

November 3, 200619 yr The Vols wont be in Huntington. Already looking for the buyout. Really?? Too bad. But at least you make some more money off of it. :thumb: Marshall would get beat senseless but it would have been a TV appearance, i'm guessing. I hope they can get back on track before they lose all the steam that was built up. They aren't too far off. I mean, if your missing NFL players like Moss, Pennington, Leftwich, Troy Brown, Steve Scuillio, nate Pool, Darrius Watts, Jason Rader, Nate Poole ------------------ Yeah, That stinks.
November 3, 200619 yr For those doubting WKU's stadium expamsion and D-IA move, all I can say is that as a Louisville fan, I know you have to dream big to change your place. Good luck, 'Toppers.
November 3, 200619 yr Off topic, but why would the Board of Regents meet in Owensboro. That seems kinda odd. I thought the same thing. The article in the Courier said that Western has a community college campus in Owensboro, but that seemed like a strange place to hold a meeting this signficant. Sort of like Eastern holding a similar meeting in Danville or Manchester! In the article it stated that one regent was from Louisville. Maybe they have some that reside in southern Indiana and Illinois and wanted a centralized location?
