October 31, 200619 yr To your first point...no. I think Red Sox figure they can pull off what the Yankees couldn't. Plus, I think the Yankees made some fatal errors and that won't cause the Sawx to write off the whole premise of high-priced talent. To your second point, I think there is NO WAY that teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, and Braves scale back to follow the model set by mid-market teams. They'll continue to keep bludgeoning the league with spending sprees until it pays off. :thumb: I didn't mean they would stop spending money wildly on high priced talent, just that they wil probably start holding their high pitching prospects in a higher regard and possibly hold onto them longer to see if they develop.

You may be right, but that certainly hasn't been their pattern. Why take the time to develop pitching talent when you can afford to barter for proven talent? I think that will remain their M.O. until the structure of disparity marketwise changes. And I doubt that will happen in my lifetime.
October 31, 200619 yr I'd make that deal in a heartbeat if I were Cincy. I wouldn't even consider it if I were Boston. I wouldn't want Adam Dunn that bad. He doesn't warrant two good pitching prospects, IMO.
October 31, 200619 yr I have no use for Mike Lowell unless he's getting back on the juice. All he'll do is steal our 3rd baseman's AB's when he didn't get as many as he should have last year. Instead of paying his salary maybe they'd take Milton, Griffey, or Larue's contract off our hands. If so then I'd do it.

November 1, 200619 yr I think the Reds would have to take Lowell to get the other two guys. My guess is that the Red Sox would insist on it. Dunn would be the everyday first-baseman for the Sawx and add some more lefty juice to balance out with Manny, Wily Mo, and Big Papi. Their offense would be silly. I'd guess the Reds would play Lowell at 3B and move Edwin to first or left. Between Dunner, Manny, Wily Mo & Big Papi, I see at least 2 errors a game.
