So late in the game Cooper is Punting from the back of the End Zone. Mind you that they started at the 20 yard line to start the Series. How did they get back to the One yard line or where ever it was spotted? Either way it sounds and looks to me that Highlands is finally trying to find it's Identity with "Defense" again.

 

Way too many Critics that last couple of years saying Highlands is flat out Terrible and can't play Defense. Even Highlands supporters!

 

Cooper punts and the ball and it travels to about the 14 yard line. Somewhere inside the 20 to be exact. The Cooper players decided that it wasn't an urgency to get to the Ball and down it for fear of you guessed it, Highlands not laying down and playing Dead rather than someone trying to gain Experience and scoop the Ball up and run it "14" or so yards for a TD.

 

Silly High School player! He didn't hear the Coach yelling from the Sideline to fall on the Ball for fear of being accused of "Running up the Score"

 

Now, what Highlands is doing going for Two up that many points isn't something I can answer. Maybe they don't have a Kicker. Now you say, certainly someone in that program other than the Varsity kicker can Kick. Maybe they can or maybe they can't. Why practice & play Bad habits? I have coached Five 8th grade games up to today and we have yet tried to Kick. Just don't have a Kicker out of 30 kids. And guess what, I'm going for Two until someone stops it if that's all we have.

 

Highlands had 45 plus points midway through the 2nd quarter. Like someone pointed out already....That's a lot of points for a JV game!

The second half points are no big deal, those kids all have to play and give 100%.

 

But again the first half points, that is a lot of points for a JV game.

From what I can remember, Depp had a pick 6. Buten 3TD runs on only a handful of carries, Bowling TD run, Houze TD reception on a blown coverage, and I think south had the TD on the botched punt out of the endzone. Like another poster said, the Cooper guys didn't even try to down the ball, so he picked it up and ran in the end zone. They went for 2 on all scores. This was the birds coming in aggressive and with a chip on their shoulder... I've got news for you NKY, this group of birds ALL have a chip on their shoulder. AND loads of talent in the Junior and Sophomore classes to go with it. Buckle up.

Buten 3 TD runs, Bowling TD run, South punt return, Depp reception for TD, Hollingsworth run TD.

In my opinion that paints a Clearer Picture! That's just being outplayed.....Period!

Mueller ran the score up on teams all the time. He seemed to take great pleasure in doing so.
