I have to wonder just how necessary it is for this young man - with all this special talent - to play JV for the Birds? My guess is there are plenty of backs - sophomores behind him on the depth chart and juniors behind them - that could get those carries.

 

This stuff never makes sense to me. Guess I just expect better from adults. Silly me.

He played only a handful of plays on Monday. What do you want the staff to do? He just came back from an injury not too long ago and needs reps. And your guess about having plenty of backs is wrong, the only sophomore RB is Buten. Mason South, who was a RB is playing all defense. The other RB last night was Boling. I guess me expecting adults to know what they’re talking about before they attack a young man and a staff they should know more. Silly me.

Buten is a stud, I believe he needs some time after the surgery to gain some confidence back. South was an animal on defense and a punt return. I can't wait to see him and huddy at linebacker together.

In business would you slow down if you’re making a lot of money? Would you tell your investors “it’s just too easy, we’re going to slow down so the competition can feel good about themselves”? People for the last few years have piled on hhs whenever they had the opportunity. I don't know man it was a JV game. It will wash away form everyone's memory in about 2 weeks, permanently. No one ever says "remember that JV game when...". If you are holding on to JV games it's time to loosen up a bit.

For me, I'm pleasantly happy with the outcome. It tells me the program has some really nice talent coming to help out on the Varsity level. Any time you can score 62 points, you have to have something in the cupboards.

 

IDK, I don't think anyone outside the community will ever be satisfied. Oh, and people have to be able to understand sarcasm when you read it.

So late in the game Cooper is Punting from the back of the End Zone. Mind you that they started at the 20 yard line to start the Series. How did they get back to the One yard line or where ever it was spotted? Either way it sounds and looks to me that Highlands is finally trying to find it's Identity with "Defense" again.

 

Way too many Critics that last couple of years saying Highlands is flat out Terrible and can't play Defense. Even Highlands supporters!

 

Cooper punts and the ball and it travels to about the 14 yard line. Somewhere inside the 20 to be exact. The Cooper players decided that it wasn't an urgency to get to the Ball and down it for fear of you guessed it, Highlands not laying down and playing Dead rather than someone trying to gain Experience and scoop the Ball up and run it "14" or so yards for a TD.

 

Silly High School player! He didn't hear the Coach yelling from the Sideline to fall on the Ball for fear of being accused of "Running up the Score"

 

Now, what Highlands is doing going for Two up that many points isn't something I can answer. Maybe they don't have a Kicker. Now you say, certainly someone in that program other than the Varsity kicker can Kick. Maybe they can or maybe they can't. Why practice & play Bad habits? I have coached Five 8th grade games up to today and we have yet tried to Kick. Just don't have a Kicker out of 30 kids. And guess what, I'm going for Two until someone stops it if that's all we have.

 

Highlands had 45 plus points midway through the 2nd quarter. Like someone pointed out already....That's a lot of points for a JV game!
