#1 Boyle County looked every bit as good as predicted in a win against 6A #10 Ballard last week. This week, 4A Franklin County, fresh off their win against Wandale Robinson and the Western Hills Wolverines, come to town.

Boyle should roll in this one, I hope Tanner Crawford is back.

I think Coach Eddie James has his best team so far at Franklin County. Boyle competed against Franklin in 7v7 and they have some nice skilled athletes.

 

However Boyle is really good. I think whatever weaknesses seen vs a very good Ballard team will be worked on this week and an even better Boyle team takes the field next Saturday.

I look for a much more productive running game against Franklin Co. Bartleson should put up some big numbers and Socco and the other younger backs should get some reps too. If Crawford is ready to go he could go off as well. Boyle big.

What should we expect to see from Franklin County offensively? I'm not very familiar with their style of offense.

Well... its hard to tell last week they played in a swamp with 8 inch tall grass. Qb had a hard time passing and there was some ball mishandling. I expect we are pretty good on offense, but again Boyle is Number one in 3A and a lot of that is due to defensive prowess.

Running back Tanner Crawford is back in pads at practice this week and might see some reps this Saturday. Boyle certainly missed him last week. With him and Bartleson in the backfield the Rebels running game will be much tougher to deal with.

FC showed lots of glow in last weeks mud fest and was very surprising offensively. I expect Chuck Smith and this #1 Boyle County team to be more than prepared for this one. This could easily turn into a trap game if Boyle comes out without the chip on their shoulders. I'm rolling with the bunch and taking the Rebels in TITLE TOWN.

There are always corrections to be made after an opening game, especially against a very good opponent. I am sure the staff will work to correct those shortcomings. The main thing that bothered me was the total breakdown the last 3:48 of the 1st half where terrible play selection and clock mis-management nearly cost us the lead that we had worked so hard for. Clock management is just as important to keep the other teams offense off the field as it is to score yourself. With a good field goal kicker, like we have leaves me with even more of a question mark. Then the last play call before the half was totally foolish with their secondary playing 15 yds off the line of scrimmage. All I could think about was last years Danville fiasco. Thank goodness for our defense. Why is the OC coordinator only putting Reese Smith in on 3rd down at times we need every advantage we can muster to try and score? In the second half every time Reese came in on 3rd down he was double covered, even on that last tremendous catch and run. Just my obsevation and about eveyone else that was watching the game.

Coach James has the Flyers heading in the right direction. They seem to have good chemistry and play really hard. The Flyers will be prepared and give the effort, but it will be a good measuring stick to see where they are and just play hard for 4 Qtrs against a really good Boyle Co team. Go Flyers!
