I thought I would restart the preview and include the non-9th region NKY teams. I'm stealing Big Red's original info and hoping others can add to that analysis as well as cover some of the rest of the girls teams in NKY

Across the area there are several very strong and athletic goalies that will play at the next level - St. Henry, SK, Highlands, not sure if Dixie's goalie is back, one or two others.

 

Highlands has everyone back, a few D1 players in midfield and forward, should be fun to watch. I'm told a good Frosh group.

 

NDA graduated a large stud class, but still have a bunch of high level club players, should be really athletic in the midfield, one of the few teams that need to find a goalie. Also, supposed to have big frosh group.

 

SK, like NDA, has a bunch of solid club players and athletes, very athletic and good kid in the goal. They won't have another Abby Zoller, but my guess is one of the most athletic and balanced teams SK has had in a while.

 

St. Henry - won't have the depth of athletes, but have enough to be dangerous. If you like soccer worth going to check St. Henry play to see Riegler in the goal.

 

Dixie - Has a really talented group of incoming freshmen, but a few of them may play DA and not high school. I'm not sure what they return.

 

Boone - Have a couple of studs in the middle, but I'm not familiar with other players.

 

Ryle - Not sure if their basketball studs will play soccer again or not. Ryle typically looks like an athletic basketball team that plays soccer, struggle scoring, but are long, athletic, play hard, and give good teams fits.

 

NCC - Should have a solid SR class, Vogt is a dynamic player, another team that I believe returns a very good goalie.

 

I do not have commentary on Cooper, Conner, CC, Holy Cross, Beechwood, etc.

 

No predictions or rankings, will just say Girls high school soccer has been at a high level last few years and should continue.

Now that tryouts are over for Highlands the Varsity roster is set. They are carrying 4 seniors, multitude of Juniors, and 2 Sophs. They are returning 8-9 out of 11 starters but of course there could be some new starters this season. A couple of D1 commits in the squad with a few in the junior class being recruited at the D1 and D2 level. If this team can put it all together they should be able to make a run at State but will need to get out of a very tough 9th Region first.

I heard 2nd hand the basketball players are not playing for Ryle and Boone's numbers are way down. Consider it msg board internet rumor, sure someone supporting those schools could confirm.

 

Highlands should be the favorite in NKY. Summary by Big Red is pretty good and I would agree with most of it.

Notre Dame will have a strong freshman class, led by 2 girls that declined DA spots. I see them as the team to beat.

 

I'd peg Highlands as the #2, but really not much separation between them and NDA

 

Dixie's goalie is out, which is a big loss. They added a freshman who played DA last year and declined for this year, but lost 2 freshman who took DA spots this time around. They tied Daviess County Panthers last night in a scrimmage.

 

Ryle's Basketball girls are not playing this year.

I agree with all the scouting reports some very good players coming back in the ninth but until someone knocks off nda the have to be considered the favorite. Although I do feel there's some teams that could challenge . HHS st Henry ncc

I thought a few of the Highlands players were playing DA but I could have heard wrong.

CAP I don’t know of any. The only player that didn’t return this year from last years Varsity squad was a senior defender. She will be missed back there.

DA is FC Cincy Development Academy, associated with the newly formed US Development Academy League that is run by US Soccer Association. Yes, if you play DA, you do not play high school. Highlands has a SR forward that is committed to UC playing DA. NDA has a Soph forward that is also playing DA.

It is considered the Top team. If you play DA though, you cannot play high school. Supposedly some DA clubs are looking to reverse this rule but that has not happened with the Cincy DA.

Not sure how many of these girls will contribute this upcoming season to their school, but a look at what's in the pipeline.

 

The U18 team has a lot of Ohio girls, but they too have made it to the National Semi-Finals and will play this weekend. I ma sure there are some NKY girls on the team, although I do not know which ones.

 

Both teams have well-represented the high quality of soccer in Cincinnati/Northern KY. Good luck this weekend!
