Activities before July 15 don’t count and haven’t for 20 years. Similar to O Cath 7v7 tournament, WKU camp, Centre Camp And UK camps. All those camps teams play 3-5 full sided 11v11 games.

 

Question on these team camps. So SK played at OE and then had tryouts if my timeline is correct. Would they have been able to take kids to the OE event that were not yet students at SK as either an incoming freshman or a transfer from another school?

 

I am also assuming that this event was after the "dead period" had ended?

It was July 14 only. Outside the dead period and before the official start date when you have to count scrimmages etc at camps and events. UL has run into that at their HS team camp. They played games at it a few years ago and the Louisville HS that went never counted those as scrimmages. Because once July 15 hit even a 3v3 game would count as a scrimmage.

Maybe I'm not getting this but what do camps have to do with scrimmages.

Got to love when the rules police come out and think they maybe on to something to take a school down. Everyone gets excited thinking they may have broken a big story or a scandal about too many scrimmages. Do you think they wouldn’t know what is legal and illegal?. Before July 15 anything goes before or after the dead period. High school basketball teams will play 20+ in essence scrimmage games in the summer. Once July 15th hits it’s the official fall sports season and the scrimmage game count begins.

Not trying to take a school down just trying to understand and I thought this thread was about the 9 region

I didn’t realize anyone was acting like the rules police. I believe most of us were just wondering what the rules were for scrimmages and what counted as an actual scrimmage according to the dates. Their coach has been around for a long time so I am sure he knew the rules just wanted the details made a little clearer. Not sure why people would assume there was some type of witch hunt going on. Sorry if that was the impression.
