A SEAL has died due to lack of oxygen

 

They are so weak and then with this death with a veteran navy diver, I don’t see how they can have them scuba out.

More rain forecast this weekend, may force the issue to just go for it. There is a danger that the spot they are at could flood.

 

They said on the news tonight that it's 6 hours from where they are to the entrance. I didn't know scuba gear could go that far.

 

I think that someone would have invented rescue pods that are air tight to bring people out that are injured when a spulunker gets injured.

Too many tight spaces. Many spots can barely accommodate a person, let alone a person in some sort of pod. Any kind of pod is just going to be too big and too difficult to maneuver through many cave passageways.

Oxygen level is down to 15% with rain forecasted, they are going to have to make an imminent decision it sounds like.

Cave diving is one of the most dangerous things you can do. Even a minor mistake can get you killed. Guys that do this stuff train for years before they can even move beyond simpler dives.

How far and long would it take to tunnel/drill to them? At least a hole big enough to allow air to be pumped in to them, maybe an avenue for food and water.

From what I've seen, they are 800-1000 meters below the surface. I have to think it won't be quick or easy to drill in, and drilling brings the possibility of a collapse of the chamber.

I think they were exploring the cave and a flash flood flooded the cave and blocked their exit, forcing them to go further into the cave to escape the water.

I read that they entered the caves during a period of dry weather – but subsequent downpours of rain blocked the narrow entrance/exit passages. I guess they found a dry ledge where they’ve since been trapped.

And apparently, most locals view those caves as very dangerous and off limits. If a trained SEAL diver can die in the cave swimming out, it’s difficult to imagine untrained, kids who haven’t eaten much over the last two weeks, some of which can’t even swim, could possibly make it out facing the same 5-6 hour swim/dive.

The deceased Thai SEAL was placing compressed air tanks along what would be the boys escape route and ran out of air.
