Prediction Thread

Featured Replies

Let's get it going. Let's each predict what the results of the upcoming election will be, and then after the fact, look back to see who was closest to being correct.

I'll begin -

Democrats will win enough seats to take the House of Representatives.

Republicans will retain the majority in the Senate - but will lose the 60/40 majority needed to force through any divisive legislation.

As a tie breaker, I'll say that the Arizona referendum for pregnant pigs having plenty of room in their pens will pass, and that the Arizona referendum for awarding one million dollars (lottery style) for a randomly selected voter every two years will fail.

Dems take 28 house seats.

Dems win in Missouri, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia and Ohio in the close Senate races.

As long as Pelousi(sp?) doesn't take power I could really care less what the results are.

More than a prediction, how about a contest? We have 1,000 BGP contests for the sports threads. WE NEED A P & R ELECTION DAY CONTEST.

Dems will take over the house...which in turn will cause Hal Rogers to run for govenor...causing Ernie Fletcher to pull out of the race in Jan. and Hal will become the next Gov of KY.

Republicans will hold the Senate...BECAUSE...it is going to come down deadlocked and the swing vote is going to come from Indy Conn Sen Joe L. With his disgust for the dem party he will throw the balance of power to the GOP.

Next Year...

Hillary and Obama will be the leading Dem candidates for President. Billary (Yes Bill and Hillary) will do their patented character assasination on Obama finding dirt and vaulting Hillary to the nomination.

John McCain will easily win the Republican nomination sitting back watching Clinton and Obama rip each other apart.

McCain will easily beat Billary in the general election.

Just one mans thoughts.....

Republicans will retain both houses but their majority will also shrink in both.

My district (Kentucky 3rd): Anne Northup ® demolishes John Yarmuth by 15 points, owing to Yarmuth's dumb campaign.

Dems gain 18-24 House seats.

Dems make inroads in the Senate but Republicans retain a razor-thin margin.

Tie-breaker: Blackwell loses his race in Ohio by double-digits.

Which John McCain will it be? The Republican or Democrat model?

A choice between John McCain and Hillary. Boy, that ought to excite Republicans.

Republican retain the White House in 2006. Other than that, I have no idea.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that HHSDad's prediction will look pretty good in another two weeks or so. :thumb:

Yes.

Either JM or Billary...you can guarntee the GOP with get behind McCain.

I believe the Dems will likely get the House but the Senate will stay with the Republicans.

The GOP base is getting cranked up and the "wave" we heard of a few weeks back is diminishing.

One shocker I will predict is Michael Steele to defeat Cardin in Maryland which will be a major upset. Cardin got absolutely blown out of the water in their last debate, in which many of the Maryland papers said Cardin's performance was nothing short of embarrassing. Steele has momentum and have caught Cardin with the Michael Fox ad running in Maryland, when Cardin voted against stem-cell...heavy black turnout expected for Steele. If he gets 33% of the black vote he will win.

Talent is beginning to pull away from McCaskill and is at 50% in the polls. Allen(VA) is at 50% and latest attack on Webb is effective regarding details from Webb's novels.

One to watch will be New Jersey, between Kean and Menendez, just last week, Menendez had seized control but Kean is riding a nice momentum wave right now.

Conrad burns have made major inroads in Montana.

Corker and Ford will be interesting to follow as well.

Allen(VA) is at 50% and latest attack on Webb is effective regarding details from Webb's novels.

My guess is the attack will backfire and be seen as "desperation." I'd expect the other side to point out that Allen supported Scooter Libby forever despite Scooter writing some novels that were quite graphic.
