Hit a 300 (approximately) yard drive last night in league, first time I've hit anything that long in years. Hard fairways and hitting it far enough to begin with to hit the downhill "slot", allowing it to roll out a free more yards helped a lot, but even still I hit it pretty darn well. Almost screwed myself though as it left me a very awkward 2nd shot over water, but I got it in for par. After a not so great round to that point I left the course happy, with the hope I might have hit on something and might have found something that has been missing from my game and possibly add some much needed distance off the tee. Hit a couple of other (for me) long drives leading up to that one, 270-280 range.

I know the game jahearme is talking about. Foursome counting two best scores per hole vs other foursomes playing the same way. We play that game at my local course all the time for usually $2 to $5 per foursome. In my case I always manage to keep my “around” scores on the low end of the “around” when someone asks me in the clubhouse what I shot. But jahearme’s game is about 100X better than mine, lol. He probably goes in the other direction. His “arounds”are probably better than what he actually states.

Jahearme, if you can work it in your schedule we’d sure like to have you play in our annual invitational on the weekend of June 9-10 at Sag Hollow in Booneville. We’ll pair you up with Randy and Eric.

We are going to Tazewell, TN that weekend for a boys weekend. I do want to come down this summer and play though. We will work something out. Heck, you and I will take on Eric and Randy! That is if they give us enough shots!

Doing 4 days at Prarie Dunes golf course in Hutchinson, KS. Excited about playing this inland links style course rated #16 in U.S. and #27 worldwide. This is about my 15th, top 100 worldwide rated course. Just opened my hard-travel bag and my new M2 driver got here safely. Always hold my breath that TSA will be careless in inspection/closing.

Just finished 6 rounds in 4 days. 5 rounds at Pacific Dunes, rated 29 in U.S. according to latest Golf Digest and #97 Flint Hills National in Witchita. Awesome courses tend to produce large scores from my bag. Pacific Dunes was special and the 141 slope rating will speak to a lot of you guys. I expect my handicap to have grown a little fatter after this trip.

Bought a Callaway 2-piece hard travel bag not long ago at the local thrift store for two bucks.

Got out this Thursday for the first time since October. It wasn't pretty. Driving was so-so, chipping and putting were so-so, shots from the fairway were abysmal.

Today's drivers are real size/length problems for my hardcase. Hold my breath TSA has a little tenderness in closing it everytime I fly.

I will miss 3 straight weeks of golf. Had a vacation, holiday and next week work gets in the way.

Played a couple rounds this weekend at Hickory Sticks (91) and AJ Jolly (87). Both courses were in great shape. Really looking forward to the Mike Dunn Golf outing at AJ Jolly in a couple weeks.

Got my handicap official for the first time ever in my life and I am sitting at 15.1. Assuming that is pretty average. Anyone else playing the Mike Dunn golf outing this Friday at AJ Jolly?

Played in the Cynthiana CC Joe Mooney Inv. this weekend. I shot +4 for the tournament (36 holes) and lost by 15 shots. Yes, 15 shots.

I played pretty well with the exception of missing a one footer on Saturday and making a double bogey on Sunday.

The golf course itself was great considering the amount of rain they received last week. Hats off to Superintendent Mike Lenox!

If your driver is adjustable take the head off and put it in your carryon.

Played fox run last night. The green on hole 3was over run with some kind of pre historic hornets. Things were huge. They left monsterous mounds of dirt where they burrowed. It was like a putt putt course. Talked of calling it a 2 putt like a green under repair

Headed to Mrytle Beach (Ocean Isle, NC) for the annual Father/Son Golf Claasic with my eldest son. 5theyera in a row and I alternate sons annually. We play Wachesaw East, Barefoot Love, and Crow Creek..We have played Crow Creek but not the other two.

The youngest and I finished 2nd Net in our flight last year. That was the first time we had placed. The eldest is focused because he heard way too much about it this past year.

Those are most likely cicada killers. They will not bother you unless you provoke them. Typically Twin Oaks in Latonia on the par 5 on the front nine has a bunch of them around the green making burrows and flying around. Twin Oaks posts signs about them around the green so you don't totally freak out.
