Almost had my 1st hole in one while playing Aston Oaks Sunday. On the last par 3 it lipped the hole and stopped less than 3 feet away behind the hole.

Those are most likely cicada killers. They will not bother you unless you provoke them. Typically Twin Oaks in Latonia on the par 5 on the front nine has a bunch of them around the green making burrows and flying around. Twin Oaks posts signs about them around the green so you don't totally freak out.

They didn’t seem to bother us other than the huge ant hills they left behind.

Fighting the shanks going on 3 weeks now, can't figure out a fix yet. Going to the range after church tonight. if I don't figure it out by league tomorrow night, might call it quits for a couple of weeks, getting way too frustrated... literally cannot make a swing with an iron in my hand. And I'm heading to Myrtle Beach at the end of the month. Could be a horrible vacation if I can't get this figured out.

I had them so bad one time a friend told me to stand on my tip toes at address and swing ( I was desperate and not sure he was even serious). Unbelievably, it worked for me. If I shank one now, straight to the tippy toes. Problem solved

Last two times out have been sloppy... very frustrating on the course right now.

Several more holes ruined on the back 9 and yes they had caught some cicadas.

Finally, I think...I think...got rid of the shanks. I hit a big bucket last night and pretty much got rid of them, played 9 holes tonight did hit one shank but was able to recover from it. Didn't post a great score but at least advanced the ball towards the hole and did hit some good iron shots.

Father/Son Golf Classic starts tomorrow in the Myrtle Beach area. We play a practice round today at noon at Barefoot - Love.

We play Wachesaw East Thursday, Barefoot-Love Friday, and Crow Creek on Saturday.

I'll be in MB in about 9 days. Looking forward to a few rounds while there. Saw where they closed Waterway Hills, the course you had to take the gondola across the waterway to get to. I liked playing there, won't get to now.

Good luck and have fun.

I played the Love course a couple of summers ago. It's a lot of fun.

Finally had enough of the draw/hook on my ball. Signed up for lessons at Stephens Golf academy/golf ranch. My goal is to be ready to play in the NKY amateur next summer without completely embarrassing myself.

Are you seeing Andrew or someone else there? One of my good friends just started teaching there.

I am getting lessons from Bobby Adams. Andrew was a little too steep in price, but if necessary I will move up the ranks for lessons. Hopefully Bobby will be able to figure me out.

Bobby is the friend I was talking about. Really good guy and definitely knows what he’s talking about.
