Open Job: Danville Christian (New To KHSAA)

Ehhhh....knowing how entrenched Danville and Boyle County are in youth football I’ll be shocked if DCA ever attempts to field a football team unless they have a 30 year plan to become competitive. It’ll take them damn near a full generation to be competitive in football. Basketball, baseball and girls sports they can make an impact almost immediately if they play their cards right.

I didn't figure football was in the cards and even if they were in a community that was starving for football it's almost impossible to start a program from scratch nowadays.

They have the potential to be a really good program if they do things the right way.

Agreed. I’m interested in seeing who they hire as a coach.

Well, I'm looking for a coaching gig so I just might apply.;)

It will shake up the districts in the 12th.

I'm guessing Danville Christian, based on their location, goes to the 46th with Mercer, Burgin and the two Jessamines while the 45th stays the same.

I don't think so if I remember correctly, same district with Boyle and Danville I believe.

If so, then I'd imagine that shifts Lincoln down to the 47th and then perhaps Somerset or Pulaski down to the 48th. I haven't heard anything official - I'm not sure there is anything official. I still think it may end up as I said. However, we shall see.

The only information from the KHSAA is in this release from October:

During the course of its regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 28 at the KHSAA Offices, the Board of Control accepted a membership application from Danville Christian Academy... Danville Christian Academy will begin its two-year probationary period with the current 2017-18 school year, and will be ineligible for postseason competition until the 2019-20 academic year.

From the Danville Advocate-Messenger in October, lots of information regarding facilities, enrollment, and possible opponents but nothing regarding placement within an alignment:

Hearing DCA will be in with Danville, Boyle, Garrard, and KSD. Also hearing Lincoln will move to Pulaski, Rock, and Casey district. This will move Somerset to Wayne, McCreary, and Wayne district.

If true then my guess in post #11 was dead on.

#humblebrag :lol2:

Well, that loosens the hold of Boyle and Lincoln on the boy's basketball district if it goes through. Opens the door for Danville and/or Garrard to take that district slot for region (and yes, I know Danville got into region this year but we'll see if that is a sign of things to come or a one off thing).

This is what I keep hearing as well.

I think if DCA had a striving program in there league it would be a better start for them. They however are making this move to try to keep student athletes there. No gurantee this will be successful. Its risky thats for sure.

I’m sure they’ll make more money off of their athletics as well won’t they?

They'll spend more, too. Decision makes sense for DCA for several reasons but it's not going to be a financial windfall.

The league they are in the fees aren't nearly as pricy. They don't have a big following the only thing I can see is visiting schools traveling and helping with money. Kudos to them for branching out. Hope it works out for them. Saw them play my brothers team in basketball. It wasn't pretty although I thought they had a couple of nice girl players.
