Revenge Games

Belfry is breathing fire to play SC again. Sometime the edge goes to the team that one but in the case of Belfry/SC I think it goes to Belfry. Belfry feels they let it get away with missed tackles and that is the truth. Coach Haywood has done nothing during the off week but run the guys and tackle. So they are itching to get back against SC. So it will be a great game.

I have wondered how much if any of a coach's strategy changes during the first game if you know you will be facing the same opponent in the playoffs. It surely goes into game planning and different senarios. Do you lay everything on the table the first time or do you hold something back? These district playoffs will be interesting.

X will likely have the lower seed if the rematch occurs in the second round, and I think they beat the Bulldogs.

I think they might as well, but they have an absolute ton of work to do, to get to that point.

Revenge is a poor motivator. After the first snap nothing matters

but right now.

In order to win a game you must focus not on the game itself but the

PROCESS!

Imo the Raceland/LCA matchup would be very interesting. LCA won the first game at Raceland and IF that rematch occurs it would be in the 2nd round for the District title at LCA. Raceland played one of their two "off" games they have had this season in the first one. LCA had alot to do with that. They came in well prepared and executed better than Raceland on that night. I don't like for kids/teams to look at things as a 'Revenge" game. Imo that could cause them to lose focus on what they need to be doing and that is to execute the game plan, keep their heads about them so to speak and eliminate mental mistakes. Raceland has played VERY good football since that game and I hope that they can keep up the momentum that they have now. At any rate, if this game comes to be it should be a very tough matchup for both teams.

Good post. If the LCA/Raceland rematch occurs I think the pressure is on Raceland to perform well. LCA has had the Rams number for a long time and a win may get the monkey (or as you referred to earlier gorilla) off their back. It should be an interesting matchup.

I agree with that except I think revenge as a motivator is a debatable topic.

If we want, we can just call them rematch games instead of revenge games. :D

I would both agree and disagree. I agree that it takes planning and execution to win it (just wanting to isn't enough).

However I know that revenge allows for that extra gear when the execution is working and you begin to get the upper hand.

This isn't playoff revenge but my experience with Harrodsburg was a vengeful one. When we were freshmen Gus Parks and Nicky Yeast humiliated our varsity 60-0. They did it with showmanship and their starters. We remembered that for the next three years and Harrodsburg never scored on Boyle again our next 3 years. (17-0, 6-0, 27-0) I still remember getting the big lead my Senior year and looking into the eyes of one of their Seniors and yelling, "Run it up. Run it up all night!" That was where revenge met preparation and execution. :thumb:

I don't think Danville vs Frankfort will be revenge, but will be redemption when the ADS beat Frankfort in three weeks.:fight: :ylsuper: :walk:  :thumb:

I think "revenge" channeled properly is a great tool in pre game preparation...especially when breaking down film and looking at individual matchups. Better preparation..stronger mindset...more of a focused approach. I think revenge is a poor mantra if that's all the team/individual is focusing on.

That is why the new format is LAME (in my humble opinion).

The infamous crawling two point conversion by Moe Spradlin.... I remember it well. I had never been so irritated watching a sports overtime highlight in my life! The saddest part was that I felt we had the potential to play Highlands alot closer than anyone else had in the playoffs the next week.

I'm not going to argue wether moe was in or not. Even though he was. But SC did go on to play them alot closer than anyone else had. Only losing by 16 or 18. Might have been one of the closest games Highlands had that year.

If Breathitt can get past Leslie in the first round of playoffs, then the young bobcats will have a huge game at Middlesboro. Middlesboro won in the first meeting at Breathitt, but the young bobcats became stail and couldnt stop the Jackets offense. I beleive that if these two would happen to cross paths agian than the bobcats will have revenge on their mind.
