Baylor will win 2 of those three games. They can beat Texas Tech and Texas A&M. After all, Texas A&M only beat Army by a few inches this year.... In other words, they aren't too good either.

 

I will say Baylor has a chance of winning one of those games. Yes, they could win two or even all three but odds are they won't win one.

 

Baylor is bad and I don't see the future looking all that bright for them. I can't understand why some UK fans are so in love with Morris. Like I said he hasn't taken Baylor to the next level and it should be an easier job then UK. They play in weaker conference and he didn't take over a program on probation.

For the umpteenth time, let's state the true facts. Barnhart and Brooks were not "buddies". Brooks had coached at the University of Oregon. Barnhart was athletic director at their bitter rival, Oregon State. Brooks had expressed interest in the opening at UK and also the opening at U of L. He wanted to get back into the college game. Barnhart had been on a witch-hunt going after Bill Parcells who indicated an interest in the UK position in an effort to: 1. Give him leverage to bargain with other available jobs (Dallas); 2. Negotiate some horse related favors through W.T. Young.

 

When Parcells signed on with Jerry Jones, Barnhart was left holding the bag. He scrambled to get who was in his mind the most qualified candidate for the job in Rich Brooks.

 

Rich Brooks knows football. He was dealt a horrendous hand. He is now playing that rotten hand out. The mess he inherited began under Hal Mumme's watch. It continued under Guy Morris who also was dealing with Hal and his staff's messes as well. Guy did a very poor job recruiting, but under difficult circumstances. Rich Brooks' first UK squad only had two offensive lineman on scholarship. Two scholarship lineman to block some of the best defensive linemen in the country in the SEC. Was that Rich Brooks' fault?

 

The NCAA puts programs on probation to make them pay for improper behavior. The penalties are designed to be difficult to overcome. UK and Rich Brooks is suffering as a result.

 

Again for the umpteenth time, any fair person cannot hang this mess on Rich Brooks and staff. If you are a UK football fan and are currently suffering, at least you are used to it.........you were suffering long before Rich Brooks came to Lexington!

I'd press for Bo Pellini, Paul Petrino, Gene Chizek, David Cutcliffe, etc. before promoting any of the current offensive coordinators.

Cutcliffe I believe showed interest in the job at one time and even T. Bowden. Look who we have ended up with......Hal Bumme, Bassett......Rich "Barnharts washed up yes man" Broooks along with Mike "thre defensinve genius" Archer.

I used the "buddy" comment in I believe that he had a preference all along and he didn't want pay top dollar for a coach. The second part I believe that you are correct when you say Brooks know football. My problem(amoung many) with him is that he doesn't seem to be able to teach and relate his knowledge to his players and he hires/contacts lousy assistants. Like I said in the previous post, D. Cutcliffe and T. Bowden I belive both showed interest in the job before the hiring of Mumme and his criminal crew. That hire was not Barhnarts and I know that. Imo Barnhart made the big mistake in not keeping Morris. As for the situation now, don't now if it would be a possibility or not but I would be making a phone call to UC......that man can coach, especially on the defesive and special teams side of things where games are won and lost.

David Cutcliffe was Mitch Barnhart's boy from their days together at Tennessee. Tommy Bowden was never interested in the job. UK had interest in him since he had previously been here on Bill Curry's first staff.

 

I also like Cincinnati's Mike Dantonio. He is a Jim Tressell disciple and a good coach.

 

The UK problem is much deeper than the coach although I believe a young, totally interjectic guy can have more success than we have had.

 

Rich Brooks does have the program in the right direction, but still a long way away.

I would like to see David Cutcliffe at UK, I think he has done a great job at UT this year as the Off. Cord. I think he would actually bring a little name recognition to the program as well, which I think it needs.

I honestly don't have a reason to discredit Joker, except saying I think the offense has been suspect at best in his tenure. I think you could validly argue that the talent hasn't been there, etc. IMO, we have no identity. I guess our identity is coming out, calling a play, and then coming to the line and calling a new play. I am willing to be a fan of that, IF it resulted in consistent results. Franlky, I think Randy Sanders has a significant part in that process.

 

I guess ultimatly, I want to believe that UK will do something better than the status quo. It just seems that we are unwilling to demand something better.

 

If anything, the defense has been suspect, and I think that both have suffered at times from the youth of the team as a whole (only 5 recruited seniors are contributing & only 6 on the team). When Hudson was let go, the offense instantly got better and has been better ever since. You obviously haven't watched the same Cats the past year or two that I have. Joker is one of the better assistants on the staff. Yes, Randy Sanders has been a very solid addition to the staff. But to say that Joker is a 'joke' (to use your words), doesn't have any merit IMHO.

I diagree wholeheartedly! When Morris took over at UK, they had talent remaining from Mumme. When he took over at Baylor, they just weren't very good. When Brooks took over at UK, the Cats weren't very good losing what talent they had left AND had probation to deal with on top of Morris' lack of recruiting (of course, in Morris' defense, he was also hampered by the beginning of the loss of scholarships), but at Baylor he had no restrictions on recruiting as Brooks was handed when he took over.

The UK fan base would run Dantonio off quicker than he could unpack...
