This is pretty incredible. What's better is that people know what an awesome kid that he is off the field. Congrats to him, for what is a historic SR year! Congrats to his parents for doing a great job! Congrats to Miami for the steal recruit, and how the heck did UK, UC, and UL let him get away?

 

Agreed, but it seems like UC, UL, UK don't like offering local kids. Pretty sure they feel that they only have to offer walk on spots to local kids. Now if they are 4 star, different story. AJ will do very well at Miami and may compete for the job early. I believe they got a grad transfer in from Michigan, but let's face it, he's transferring for a reason. Maybe he didn't play much up there in Ann Arbor.

Luke Maile, David Wilson, Jim VonHandorf, Etler, are a few of the names I would put in the best / most accomplished multi-sport of all-time discussion. Best is always debatable, but I'm not sure anyone can top an undefeated, 2 state championship.

Not a star, per se, in either sport, but Ryan Massie has a Soccer State Championship and a Basketball State Championship -- both single-class State Championship sports. Hugely impressive.

And to go along with this, I would go out on a limb and say neither one of those teams wins the state without him. Maybe basketball, but his rebounding and toughness was so integral to the team that they very well could have lost to Cooper or done poorly at Rupp.

He starred in a Champ Football team and made the state and region all tourney basketball team for the best basketball team in the history of the school. Watching C.J. and AJ over a four day period was as good as it gets.

Wouldn't make my list either, two separate posts, one pointing out Massie had two rings (which is impressive), one that AJ would be on a very short list for greatest all around CovCath athlete. No, of course not, Massie wouldn't be on that list, but his accomplishment was worth mentioning.

Tough to say that absolutely 100%. I think AJ is one of VERY few whom a reasonable argument could be made

 

...but Rick Hornsby played for the football team in '68 and '69 when it was only one and two years old and barely had its wheels moving, yet still managed to set records that weren't broken until the 2000s. He still is on the record board for most points scored in a single game. He was also a track star on a statewide level, and if I'm not mistaken, was a stud baseball player as well.

As for the GOAT of CCH athletics, he is definitely one of very few in the conversation, Tim Grogan has to be in the conversation. QB of the football team that made it to the semi's of the AAA state tournament and starting SS of the 40-3 2002 baseball state championship team.
