Corbin 50 Estill County 40 (Sweet 16 - Round 1)

Featured Replies

Listening online, guys did a great job. Estill Co had their opportunities but just could get over the hump. Great game and was much closer than the final score

Missing the two front ends of the one on one really was the turning point of the game.

It brought Estill out of their zone Made them play man-to-man. Corbin made the free-throw’s end of story

Estill only took 27 shots to Corbin's 52 ? Wow

Estill made too many turnovers that led to easy baskets for Corbin. They lost by 10 points and I’m sure they gave up more points than that off turnovers by the guards.

Estill’s band was rocking the train tune they play. Their crowd gets in a frenzy when they play that.

Someone on the update thread commented that hand checking , body fowls and defensive hip thrown moves were not called. Refs from my region have seen but not called those all year.

Congratulations to Corbin on the win. Also Congratulations to Estill County for giving your fans an exciting season. Always fun to see different teams make it to the Big Dance at Rupp.

They have that sound perfected. Great job band!

Estill had way too many turnovers that led to easy baskets, which Corbin needed because they shot the ball poorly from the outside. Corbin hit their FT's late and Estill missed theirs, and that kind of sums up the Redhound win.

That was me that commented. Our 14th region calls a tad tighter during the season on that type of aggressive defense but that’s just my opinion. Others from my region may feel they allow more contact. But I’ve noticed in the Sweet 16 and the All a State that there are fluctuations from different areas of the state in what is permitted and what is not.

We counted at least 6 run outs for points for Corbin today.
