I really feel for the players and I'd like to support them, especially the ones not coming back next year... but it's hard to get too worked up about this and I find it hard to argue with my friend here. I'm ready for this miserable season to be over.

I'm going to go tomorrow. I feel like it will be cathartic as a UofL fan one way or another, and get to go see NKU as well, since it's the alma mater. But I totally get the exasperation from my fellow Cardinal fans.

I chose U.L. due to they are the team with the better talent. Having said that, the N.I.T. games can go to the team that wants to be there more. Should UL come out flat, no emotion or even a desire to play then NKU could take the game.

I understand that "don't care" feeling by a team that fully expects to be in the tournament. That's imo exactly what happened to U.K. several years ago when they went to the NIT and lost to Robert Morris. I would like to think that although disappointed, a team of competitors would want to beat the team across from them, regardless of the situation. After all, that's why you play the game in the first place.

Anyway .... Cards win in a close one.

According to the C-J article, the NCAA sends the paperwork in advance, so that you have to answer whether or not you'll accept the bid before you know whether or not you're getting left out of the NCAA tournament. UofL accepted the potential NIT bid almost a full week ago.

What I don't understand is why they'd agree to be a host. I sort of understand the AD checking the box that his team would accept an NIT bid (apparently, with little to no conversation with his coach / team administrator), but what I don't get is why they'd agree to host. Forgetting any financial implications that may or may not arise from a 1/3rd full building, I'm surprised UL would want the optics of their men's team playing in front of an empty building, or, even worse, the other team having as many fans in attendance. If you wanted to play, fine, but just tell the NCAA you can only be considered to hit the road.

If you agree to play then you certainly want the home court “advantage”. Also, it’s the NIT following a grueling series of events... what optics are left to be concerned with? lol.

Yea I just went on line to buy tickets and they are not showing any up top. Also all of the lower on the sides are gone all they are selling right now is in the endzones and the terrrace sections. I have never been to the Yum Center yet have been wanting to and for these prices hard to pass up. The wife and I are leaving Lexinton in a few hours and just buy them at the ticket widow to avoid the ticketmaster fees. That's right I'm cheap. lol

Hopefully U of L shows up and plays hard. They have as good of a chance of anybody to win the NIT.

 

I know they feel jilted and are not sure they want to play for this, feeling that it is a consolation prize. But, any kind of championship is earned, and it would be good for these guys to go out as a winner.

My co-worker, who went to NKU, said he's only going so that he can see the space where the banner used to hang.
