I pretty much figured this was coming. After seeing plenty of teams getting selected that did, it’s pretty clear that the NCAA gave them the bird, even if in disguise.

I figured they weren’t going to get in, I just didn’t think there would’ve teams blatantly worse that they put in.

The zero wins against the top 50 killed UL. Listening to the guy who was the head of the committee, he kept talking about quality wins when they asked him about teams on the bubble.

 

That is why St. Mary's didn't get in either. Not enough quality wins and a very weak out of conference schedule.

I would like to see Louisville host either NKU or Western in the opening of the NIT.

Oklahoma has Trae Young though. He's a household name and fans will tune in to watch him. UL doesn't have a player that anyone outside of Kentucky knows.

Automatic bids for conference tourney winners should go away. Davidson doesn’t deserve to be in, just like the team who won last night that has a losing record that will be in the dance.

 

If you are a bubble team, what difference does it make if you get in? You are not good enough to win it, why not let some mid majors take their beating. The whole object of the tourney is to see who is playing well at the end of the season.

I couldn't disagree more. The tournament is about finding out who the best team in the country is. That doesn't mean the best team always wins, obviously, but that is the goal. Just because a team wins three games in three days (conference tournament), that doesn't mean they deserve to get in the tourney if their total body of work is crap.

You will have to enjoy the NIT, because UL's body of work in a major conference was crap this year ! There has to be a way for the small conferences to make the dance. I can see an argument to use the regular season versus the conference tourney, but if you are 8th in your conference with not a lot of games to go, you have no reason to stay focused.

Louisville had several opportunities to punch their ticket and failed to do so. That's why they aren't in the dance.

 

IMO, regular season conference champions are MUCH more deserving of an automatic bid than conference tourney champs. That's how small conference teams make the dance.

Actually not a hater, just agree that they failed to do what was needed to qualify. UL fans are spoiled (just like UK fans ) and expect the NCAA invite. Any thing less is not acceptable. Just no need to complain about the system because of getting bumped by a team with zero chance of winning it. Heard NKU fans complain about the system this year, but never said a word last year when it benefited them. It if was not for the conference tourneys half of the schools in the country would have nothing to play for the last few weeks of the year.

Not true. Oklahoma was the last team to get into the tournament. That's what the committee said.
