Each NFL team is given 1 nomination, so Eddie joins 31 other coaches across the US in the running for the award.

Coach Eviston is invited to participate and be recognized at various times during the NFL's week of football events and celebrations surrounding the 2018 Pro Bowl in Orlando, FL. Nominees will be able to participate in a special coaches' clinic, enjoy a VIP visit to Pro Bowl practices and attend the USA Football National Conference.

Two finalists will each receive $15,000 from the NFL Foundation, $10,000 of which will go to their high school's football program. The Don Shula Award winner will be announced during the 2018 Pro Bowl, airing Sunday, Jan. 28 at 3 P.M. ET on ESPN and ESPN Deportes and simulcast on ABC.

That's awesome, well deserved! Is there anywhere we can go to advocate for him?

The award is decided by a panel of judges...but there's nothing that says you aren't welcome to blow up any of their Twitter accounts with "vote Eddie Eviston" tweets :lol2:

The panel includes, among others, Don Shula, Randy Allen (winner of the award last year), David Baker (NFL HOF president), Tony Dungy, Peyton Manning, Condoleezza Rice, and Michael Strahan.

That's awesome, congrats to Coach Eviston.

Nice recognition for Coach E.

Congratulations and well deserved

Didn't the Bengals just give CovCath a bunch of money?

Congrats Coach Eviston and good luck!

The NFL and the Bengals did.

Congrats E

I believe Coach Eviston has a very good chance of winning. With everything Covington Catholic accomplished this year plus the challenges faced by Eddie's brother and how CCH helped raise money for ALS - it won't surprise me at all.

Here are the twitter handles of the panel members if you would like to join in on the twitter campaign to encourage them to vote for Coach E. Could not find an official twitter account for Peyton Manning so a hashtag was included.

Did Dale ever win this or was he even ever nominated?

Dale who?!!

Did Dale ever win this or was he even ever nominated?

Dale Mueller has been nominated, but has not won.

The award has been around since 2010, and Dale was the Bengals' first-ever nominee for the award in 2010. The first year the award was not solely for high school coaches, so Dale was up against the likes of John Harbaugh, Tom Coughlin, and Pete Carroll.
