^ supporting brooks and providing financial support to the UK program does not sound like a wise investment or much fun..... I applaud your reasoning and support for UK.... Just don't see how this can be fun for the average fan??? After all, what is there to get excited about???? Ok, the band sounds nice, one can watch people (45,000 or so), tailgate in the parking lot before the game and after the first half.... Keeneland.....UK has a lot of things to offer from a entertainment perspective, its just a shame that the football program is NOT one of them.....
I understand and never said if was fun, even frustrating at times.

UK fans certainly deserve a competitive SEC team and I couldn't imagine the crowds, once that consistency happens....and it will happen, someday.

I'm not a Brooks fan or Archer fan, haven't been from day one but UK still needs financial support for its Football program. Without help, scholarship would be diminished and players would certainly, go elsewhere.

Youthful exuberance, with defensive background and a non-conservative offensive approach, would be my preference....:thumb:

I would have paid Morris the extra change he wanted. I know UK has the money to pay a decent coach. Brooks may be the best option for what they are willing to pay but I see no reason they dont pay a better coach.

This is what UK as a whole wanted. Morris actually told the AD he would stay for less than what he was being offered by other teams...All he wanted was a raise for he and his coaching staff...The "man in charge" thought he was bluffing, and refused. Morris had no other choice than to take other offers.

I liked Guy Morris but what was his record at UK? I wouldn't want to feel like I was being held for ransom. Maybe Morris was or could have been offered some incentives to match or get close to his offer who knows. He would have had to bear the sanctions like everyone else. If we would have hired a "Parcels" under sanctions we would have set him up for failure. Maybe it was Brooks' job to get us back to full strength and then phase 2.

Morriss didn't want to stick around and do the dirty work that was involved with re-building a team during probation. I think he is a decent coach, but if he stayed here we would either be in the same spot we are now or worse off. He has done an ok job at Baylor so far, but I don't think he could have brought in some of the players that Brooks' staff has. Joker in particular.

In my opinion Rich Brooks is a decent football coach. Not a good one, and definitely not a great one. He has an overall losing record. His major accomplisment was going to the Rose Bowl while at Oregon. Almost anyone one that can call a football game can go to a major bowl once every thirty years.

Cant we get an undecided vote?

Seriously, I do support the staff for the rest of the year, or as long as they still have bowl eligibility left. If we only win 5 games this season with this schedule, you got to ask the question, are we really getting better? Also, fans want to see us atleast be competitive with Tennesee and Georgia. That will be a big deal if we can keep those 2 games respectable in my mind.

I keep hearing comments like "with this schedule". Granted UL Monroe, Central Michigan, and Texas should be and have been wins. Vandy, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Mississippi St. were winnable and so far Uk is 1-1 against this foursome with the loss coming to the best team of the bunch.

The other 5 games are are Georgia at home, now appears to be at least a possible win but the other 4 are almost certian losses. Florida, Tennessee, Louisville, and LSU on the road.

Basically UK has to win 6 out of 7 winnable games. Not exactly and easy thing to do with a roster that has 8 recruited scholarship seniors.

Guy Morriss left UK with 7 offensive lineman when he took the money and ran for Baylor. Lets remember Morriss's record at UK was 9-13 or something similar. He did UK no favors.

Exactly people only remember him by the 7-5 season.

4 more years! 4 more years!

No, seriously, not speaking as a Louisville fan I think Brooks is done. For one thing, it doesn't look as bright for a bowl game as it did at the begining of the year. For another, the fan base has started voting with ticket sales.

Finally, I think that the powers that be were a little upset by what looked like a step backwards against Louisville. It doesn't matter how good Louisville is, even if they go undefeated this season Barnhart and Todd are going to still be choking on that game. And the fans are getting fed up with it, too. I'm sure they're quite sick of Louisville fans at this point.

I'm a UK fan so I support any coach the have.

Morris left because he didn't want to deal with the team he would be stuck with after Lorenzens class graduated. I say we pay Nick Saban whatever it takes to get him here. He'll probably be looking for a job shortly. He's from West Virginia so he would be close to home.

Guy Morris had 1 good year, and yes it was at Kentucky where most coaches in the recent past haven't. But looking at his record and years of coaching he still was an unproven coach. I didn't want to see him leave after the winning season either, but if I remember correctly, the amount he wanted to stay at UK would have made him the 3rd highest paid coach in the SEC. And I don't think that one winning season, even at Kentucky warranted him to be paid that much.

I think right now we need to support Brooks, maybe not all of his assistant coaches, at least thru the end of the year, and possibly thru next. If there is no improvement ( bowl, winning records, etc.) then they should be shown the door.

BB, I agree 100%. I have never, ever understood the infatuation with Guy Morriss his career record is 23-41.
