"I just got off the phone with Matt Haskamp. He just talked to the superintendent and they are going to retain us." Sounds relieved and not like he was confident that it was going to happen. How's that supposed to get the people and players excited and motivated for the upcoming seasons?

 

Highlands has one of the top histories in the nation, and this guy sounds like he's surprised that they're even keeping him.

Of course he's relieved, who wouldn't be? I'm not seeing it like you are.

I like and respect Coach W as a person but I am not sure about how all this went down. I hope he delivers with this second chance.

Matt Haskamp is the AD?

The best thing about this is now the boys can just get back to training and not have this mess hanging over them. For those who have questioned the talent the past few years, it certainly won’t be the case next year. If the boys are put in the right position to be successful, they will be. With a clear QB in Grady, and Cooper running the ball, the birds should have a loaded offense. The D will miss steiden in the secondary, but all of the injuries last year gave underclassmen tons of playing time which will pay off next year. Bowman, Huddleston, starkey, and dellegrange will be a loaded LB crew and a force on D. Best of luck to the staff and the team. This talented group has the attitude and desire to bring the birds back. If Ahfeld gets a chance to play offense watch out. The kid is a playmaker!

This is spot on^ As someone said in the Last day or so that a lot of people run in the same circles. So here it goes. The things I'm hearing are just Unbelievable. Imagine your company making decisions that are normally made by Adults. A decision was made to relieve an employee of their duty based on his body of work. Not attendance but body of work! That employee was then so beat up that his mommy or in this case better half decided to take matter into her own hands. Remember we are making Adult decisions here. The better half decided that they would get the family or in this case the team to write the employer letters of support on how this employee is a good employee and how he would never do anything to hurt the company. The employer listened. The employer listened to a bunch of family members or in this case, teenagers! Kids and parents that are okay with being mediocre because of the Love they have for their Coach. I admire that but in order for a Company's success in the real world that most of us live in, things sometimes change. I'm a BirdDaddy but not a DumbDaddy. The way the District handled this is right out of a made up Storybook. Because I only have 2nd hand Info on this I cannot comment just now on how the District handled policy on this one. If indeed it's anywhere near what I'm hearing, then I would have to believe some District positions will be opening up starting at the top working down the ladder in the near future. Just my Opinion there is more to come out of this. This isn't just going to be the Employee keeping his job.

 

So in your scenario what's your opinion of mommies and daddies of the other employees contacting the employer to get said employee fired? Sounds like the process happened just the way it should with both sides having their say.

So an AD that is honest and upfront with his coach is sad?

I laugh at the fact there are people being upset by the AD showing the head coach letters written in an attempt to get rid of him. That is the problem with today's cowardice world. People want to act like little weasels and are upset when their names are associated with their mouths.

All this. How is the AD supporting one of his coaches in ANY way sad? If you don't want it to be known you wrote a letter, don't write it. Or man up.
