November 21, 200619 yr Look for the Reds to try and sign Luis Gonzalez (he of the 52 doubles last year) to play LF if the Reds do get a Dunn deal done. I would stamp the Spindoc approval on the Gonzo acquisition if the price is right. Assuming we get some pitching for Dunner! Starting pitching!!!!Strike3proof!
November 21, 200619 yr I think the Cubs may make a play for Gonzo if he will settle for a 2-year deal.

November 21, 200619 yr I just wish someone would focus on the Reds real needs. starting pitching I think Krivseky will look starting pitching at making moves, to better help the Reds. starting pitching He has proven a willingness, to acquire relief pitching and a closer, starting pitching but a glaring weakness still remains....Starting Pitching, someone said.

I am not sure that the Reds have anything to truly bring good starting pitchers ready to go now without devastating the rest of the squad. I fear that they are not going to get a return of their Dunn investment as they should. JR with his salary and injuries can't bring anything. Who else do they have that can bring something? Some will say package deal. Well you can't package together a bunch of horse manure and bring back Secretariat.

I'm one of those package deal advocates and they can include, some middle relievers with a Dunn, Griffey, Hatteberg or Freel and some clubs will make a 1 for 3 or 4 move, plus salary incentive deferment. They freed up a lot of salary on LaRue and I know were they can free up $9.833 mil more....in a package deal for starting pitching
November 28, 200619 yr Many different outlets are reporting that the Pirates are talking about trading for Dunn. They called a power-hitting lefty their #1 off-season priority -- they would play him at 1B. The Reds would be insane, IMHO, to trade him within the division -- unless its for one of their stud young pitchers and a prospect.

Starting pitching and potential prospect starting pitching, with a minor league player option.

It may be in the Reds best interest to trade Dunner, but please please please don't trade him in the division. I'd much rather see Dunn in the AL, but especially not the NL Central.
November 28, 200619 yr Pittsburgh has a pretty healthy farm system, including what the Reds may need. The Pirates also aren't reluctant to trade within the division. They traded Leiber and Ramirez to the Cubs; a pitcher or two to the Cardinals; and Williams for Sean Casey

November 28, 200619 yr The Reds' two-catcher system lasted all of one week. On Monday, the club signed veteran catcher Chad Moeller to a one-year contract. Moeller batted .184 in 29 games for the Brewers in 2006. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061127&content_id=1746682&vkey=news_cin&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin
November 28, 200619 yr I think I'm more excited that the team extended the contract of team medical director Doc Hollywood yesterday...
