Looks like MadSouth relies heavily on two players on offense:

Carter Smith has 169 carries for 1352 yards on the season. Averages 97 yards/game and has scored 23 touchdowns this year.

QB Landen Stacy has 126 carries for 906 yards on the season. Averages 65 yards/game rushing and has thrown for 1,565 yards for an average of 112 yards/game. Stacy has thrown for 21 td's and rushded for 9.

On the game winning drive against Harlan, MadSouth relied almost exclusively on the duo:

MadSouth coach Jon Clark was quoted after the game: “You are going to lean on the guys who got you there,” Clark said. “We leaned on those two — Landen and Carter — all the way down the field.”

I'm not a CovCath alum but I do enjoy watching 9th region teams compete against the rest of the state. 15+ years ago, it would have been very tough for me to say this with CCH being one of our biggest rivals but GO COLONELS! Bring that state championship home.

Sounds like MadSouth qb Landen Stacy will be tough to contain:

Senior quarterback Landen Stacy has been a big part of Southern’s success

Stacy — who has drawn interest from Pikeville and Georgetown College — has completed 60 percent of his passes this season (103-of-172) for 1,565 yards with only six interceptions.

In his high school career, the senior has 36 passing touchdowns and 3,050 passing yards.

The 215-pound quarterback is also a big-time threat to run the ball.

“He doesn’t have 4.6-speed. But, he’s averaging nine yards a carry on the season. It’s just crazy,” Clark said. “He’s very efficient in picking when and where to run and he’s physical runner. He doesn’t go down easy.”

The senior is Southern’s second-leading rusher (906 yards on 126 carries, nine touchdowns) this season and has almost 2,000 career rushing yards.

Stacy has provided plenty of scoring in the past four seasons.

He has 58 career touchdowns and more than 5,000 total yards.

They won two games in three years. Now they’re one win away from a state title

Some interesting quotes from MadSouth coach Jon Clark:

CovCath has advantages that Madison Southern never will, its proximity to and ability to draw talent from the Cincinnati area being perhaps the biggest.

“There’s a reason a lot of your private schools, Catholic schools, all-male schools like this are so competitive,” Clark said. “They have a different stream of acquiring talent than most public schools are ever going to have. It’s across the board, everywhere in the country. There’s a difference between public and private schools. It’s not an equal playing field, I don’t care what anybody says.”
