October 10, 200619 yr I'd say UC is very close to UK right now. Cards by 30??? I'd say they are behind UK and that says a lot considering what they have going for them. But glad you could bring Papaw Brooks and company into the conversation.

Just a question, and directly related to this game because UK played UL. How would the Mildcats do in the Horseshoe and in Blacksburg? The UK game in the Swamp is of a similar status. UC has plenty of problems, but on the road vs a national name has not been all that rough so far...
October 10, 200619 yr I'd love to see a shutout, just because I want to feel confident on the defense and special teams again. UofL- 55 UC- 7 (scored against second team). I'd REALLY love to see some of the Manual players get in there.
October 10, 200619 yr Author ^^Thanks for reminding me D.Q. (thats what Im calling you from now on.)...The Special Teams units have some work to do...They stunk the place up this past week.

Not much into comparing scores. Too many variables for each. Dantonio inherited a far better situation than Brooks did at UC. Competitive wise UC is in a better situation. I think both schools probably made poor decisions in their hires. I think Brooks is a good football coach and mind, but his age and being from the west coast were significant drawbacks. But he had experience in building a program from the depths. Im willing to give him a shot. UC traded a fairly successful but bland coach for another bland coach. Dantonio is probably a great football mind and so forth, but UC needs a charismatic coach who can really sell the program to the local high schools and promote the program to the fans and the community. He is not going to do that. But you should probably give him a chance.
October 10, 200619 yr While I agree on most, how is UC a better situation? The UC crowd is about the same number of fans that miss a game for UK. 50,000 weak trumps 20,000 strong...
October 10, 200619 yr Attendance aside. UC went to a bowl in 2000, 2001, 2002, and missed in 2003. 3 bowls in 4 years and they ran Minter out. Exactly why did they run Minter out? Then Dantonio goes to a bowl his first year and then a 4-7 season last year. No probation, full allotment of scholarships, BCS league that has 2 top 25 teams in it and a real opportunity to make waves. Recent track record makes me believe it was a better situation on the field.

I think Minter and Dantonio are very close to the same coach, so I get what you are saying. Dr Zvil went after the star DC from the tO$U title, and now UC has the same type team with less talent...

October 10, 200619 yr I'm hearing that it's a sandbag effort. I hear Brian will play. C-J had an article on Brohm today, and he was quoted as saying the thumb was "60-65%." FWIW, I think Brian sits the Cincy game and comes out and starts against Syracuse. I really don't think Petrino will even suit him up if he's not going to start against the Bearcats, and with only a week to try and get back in the groove, I just don't see it happening.
October 10, 200619 yr Ms. 02 was my guest at the rain soaked 70-7 game, and she brings it up EVERY TIME someone mentions the bird-stomping. The whole game she was shaking her head, asking 'Why would they do it? It was so stupid. It's like they had a death wish.' She's so cute.

That was a fun game...Minus the pouring rain, stinging wind, and temps in the middle 30's... That 70-7 score is exactly why it wont happen Saturday.
October 10, 200619 yr :walk: Stomp that bird!!!!!! Stomp that bird!!!!!!:walk: Might as well, atleast they will have an excuse for getting beat pretty bad.
