Is This the Most Wide-Open the NFL has Ever Been?

Featured Replies

I can't recall a season where we were halfway through the year and had no team(s) really sticking out as clear favorites or the team to beat.

When was the last time it was this wide-open?

If the season ended today, the postseason would shape up as....

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

2. New England Patriots

3. Kansas City Chiefs

4. Tennessee Titans

5. Buffalo Bills

6. Jacksonville Jaguars

1. Philadelphia Eagles

2. Minnesota Vikings

3. New Orleans Saints

4. Seattle Seahawks

5. Los Angeles Rams

6. Carolina Panthers

Does anyone see a clear-cut favorite in either conference?

Patriots in the AFC, I won't believe otherwise until they lose a game in January

Just imagine if Minnesota had a QB for more than 3 games at a time.

Truth. The defense is solid and that rebuilt offensive line has been miles better than last year.

Of course, Minnesota has been searching for a "steady QB" since the end of the Fran Tarkenton days.

They sure have looked better the last couple of weeks too.

Playoffs? Playoffs? What is this word? It doesn't compute.

NFL is just not very good right now.

I think there is a clear cut favorite in both conferences. Give me the Patriots and the Eagles.

Philly has looked like the best team in football, but I have more faith in the Seahawks from the NFC.

It is wide open and any of these teams are one injury e.g. Aaron Rodgers to being a non factor. Brady goes down so do the Pats. Ben goes down so do the Steelers. Brees, Wilson, Cam, Wentz so go those teams. The rest might be able to maintain.

We all know just at the halfway point for most, the list will look much different after game 17.

If QB's stay the same.

Steelers, Chiefs, Pats will win their divisions in the AFC. I think the Texans look the best in the AFC South (right now)

Vikes and Seahawks win their divisions in the NFC, the rest is up for grabs.

I would say it is open, but I believe one of the 5 I mentioned will be Super Bowl Champs.

I've been thinking that same where week after week keeps me right confused. In a way I like having not a clue who is gonna rise up and be the standout team or teams.

Typically by now this has been established, and while it has been pointed out that the Eagles are riding high, the Patriots while winning aren't exactly dominating anybody. Sure, by playoff time they'll no doubt let that dominance take full effect.

What has also been mentioned is that the NFL isn't very good right now, and while I've seen some magnificent plays here and there, there does seem to be a hefty amount, more than usual, of play that misses the mark.

Still I like not knowing who'll likely will wear the rings by season's end as I just think that the suspense makes it all the more interesting and exciting.

Where's Joe Kapp when you need him?!

Oh, probably in a WWE Raw bout vs Angela Mosca.
