October 18, 20179 yr Today in “What did Rick Pitino do now”: the former Louisville coach is suing Adidas for — get this — ruining his reputation by funneling money to Brian Bowen. Oh yes, Pitino alleges he suffered damages as a result of Adidas’ “outrageous conduct in conspiring to funnel money to the family of a college basketball recruit,” which he continues to claim happened without his “knowledge, participation, or acquiescence.” The federal lawsuit comes one day after Adidas terminated its contract with Pitino, who reportedly got 98% of the $39 million Louisville was owed in its current deal with the apparel company. “Coach Pitino has striven to ensure that the University of Louisville men’s basketball program operates cleanly, properly, and in strict compliance with all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), and other regulatory requirements,” the lawsuit reads. “He has never authorized, tolerated, participated in, or otherwise condoned giving improper benefits to recruits or players, or to their families.” Rick Pitino is suing Adidas for damaging his reputation | Kentucky Sports Radio
October 18, 20179 yr Talk about biting the hand that fed you. I hope Adidas eats him alive and exposes him for what he truly is and shows more allegations of cheating. Adidas is a Billion Dollar company and has a little more than a few lawyers to help their case.
October 18, 20179 yr @KYSportsRadio Scott Van Pelt is interviewing Rick Pitino tonight...that should be fun
October 18, 20179 yr I don't blame him. He is trying to save his reputation. the thing is, it will tarnish it even more.
October 18, 20179 yr When you put your reputation out there as an element of the lawsuit, you leave ALL OF YOUR past transgressions open to dissection in the courts and ultimately the public. All past affairs, cheating, lying....whatever. He should have called Roger Clemens before he filed this case.
October 18, 20179 yr Maybe the whole point is to let the cats out of the bag. Go down swinging if you will.
October 18, 20179 yr What does he have to lose? What should he do if he truly did not know about the money changing hands? I am excited that he filed this suit. The more information we get the better.
October 18, 20179 yr I was really interested to see if Gatto was going to flip on everyone after he was charged by the FBI. This makes it even more interesting with Pitino suing Adddas.
October 18, 20179 yr I'd be interested to know Rick Pitino's current met worth...like how much the dude has in the bank right now. I realize no one wants their income cut off at ANY point...but I've got to think at 65 years old, it's going to be much easier for him to be done with his professional career rather than fighting all of this. Even then, write a book or two. Make one of them a tell-all. They'd sell millions of copies I'm sure.
