BGP Class A Rankings

Featured Replies

Mayfield makes a strong case for being ranked ahead, they played a good schedule and have come out of it better than I thought they would have with all they graduated. Quality wins with Caldwell, Hoptown, PT and took care of the teams they were suspose to in Union and Fulton County. A 7 point loss to Marshall in a game that they could have won. THe only suprise was the Graves game where they never showed up.

New Cath has played a great schedule taking a tuff one to Belfrey, getting beat by the big boys in Ryle and Cov Cath and getting beat after being up big to Beechwood who is certainly one of the top few in 1A. NCC's loss th HC is a suprise, they are obviously pretty good but I dont think they are top #5.

Problem is that you can spin either teams wins and losses anyway you see it but I think Mayfield has made a better claim to the #4 spot than has NCC at this point. Mayfield will have no chance to help themselves from here out though, the remaining schedule will not turn any heads.

Bottom line, winner of Bardstown/Danville, and I think this will happen, wins state

I'm so sure on Btown, Danville is the team to beat I think but Btown certainly is on a roll

I still don't understand how a 5-1 HC team that beat NCC is ranked below a 2-5 NCC team.

Because maybe, just maybe, the BGP panel feels it was an upset.

On point 1) I think Mayfield would beat Belfry, Holy Cross and Beechwood. They would probably lose to Ryle and CC...So, 5-2 would be my prediction.
Wow. I simply can't agree.

Have you seen Mayfield this year? Do you really think the Cardinals would be 5-2 against that schedule?

Wheres the love for the Caldwell thrashing...Looks pretty impressive now...They're undefeated since with a couple of quality wins over ranked teams...IMO, that win alone puts em ahead..
I saw Caldwell play Mayfield. I have seen both teams play since then.

It was the first game of the year. Believe me, Caldwell is a much better team now than it was then.

I would rank Mayfield at #2. I just like the schedule they have played with all the big schools, and been right there with them. Bardstown is playing very well but has some holes, trust me. They need to patch them up. They get Bethlehem in Week 10 which is no slouch, and will see Lou. Holy Cross or Bethlehem again in the playoffs, followed by Danville if they get through. Its a hard road to hoe.

That's hilarious.

It's not that funny. Mayfield could beat Belfry, but I wouldn't pick them to. Heck, Pikeville played them tough ... why couldn't the Cardinals?

I'm thinking Holy Cross is probably as good as, if not better, than most of the teams ranked ahead of them.

I certainly think Mayfield is stronger than Pikeville and they gave Belfry all they wanted, so, yes, thats what I think would happen..

yes, Ive seen Mayfield play, 3 times to be exact and yes, I think they would come out 5-2 or maybe 4-3 at worse...certainly not 2-5...I also don't think NCC would have as good a record as Mayfield if they had played the Cards schedule....I would personally have Mayfield ranked 3rd at this point, behind Danville and Bardstown only..I'm not quite sold on Beechwood yet either...

What do you mean? Here is NCC's schedule so far:

Belfry BGP Top 10

Ryle

CovCath BGP Top 10

Cov. Holy Cross BGP top 10

Beechwood BGP Top 10

Dayton

Newport AP top 10

Has Mayfield played a schedule this tough? They may be 2-5 against this schedule also!

Because maybe, just maybe, the BGP panel feels it was an upset.

Based on what they did last year? I realize that HC's schedule isn't quite as tough as NCC, but their one loss came to a decent Simon Kenton team and they also beat a pretty decent Holmes team in addition to several others. They also won the head to head game, which for some reason, doesn't seem to matter much in polls these days because people are too hung up on past history and preseason expectations. It's not a knock against BGP but I've seen several times where teams won the head to head game and stayed ranked behind the team they beat.

I still don't understand how a 5-1 HC team that beat NCC is ranked below a 2-5 NCC team.

I agree with you on that one..:thumb:
