October 4, 200619 yr I'd like to see Rose and Bench in the booth together..... or maybe in the ring together! ....or maybe on a slow boat to China together.
October 4, 200619 yr Well, Jason LaRue said today that if the Reds want to make Jason LaRue their #1 catcher he'd be first in line to promote the cause.
October 4, 200619 yr Marty said today that if the Reds want to make Marty the voice of Reds baseball and have him be the #1 guy, he'd be first in line to promote the cause. He told Thom he's excited to have him back but he's MORE excited to have the grandkids in town. I'm confused... LRCW thinks that maybe Marty has been hanging around Jason LaRue too much. :D

He told Thom he's excited to have him back but he's MORE excited to have the grandkids in town. Let me correct my error. MARTY says that should the Reds choose to make THOM the #1 guy in the booth and the voice of the Reds, MARTY would be the #1 supporter and cheerleader.
October 5, 200619 yr Thom Trivia: Thom's mother (may she rest in peace) was married to a former NBA player. Who is he?
October 5, 200619 yr Author "I told them if the day ever comes and they want to make him the marquee name in this grouping, they've got my blessing," Marty said. "If they want me to do three innings and he did six, that's fine with me. If I'm going to pass the torch, so to speak, I might as well pass it on to my son."

"If they want me to do three innings and he did six, that's fine with me. If I'm going to pass the torch, so to speak, I might as well pass it on to my son." Which brings me back to the question I posed earlier (post #8), this move smells like a succession plan, and I wonder how much longer Marty plans on doing this?
October 5, 200619 yr Get Harold Reynolds to come in and be apart of the TV crew for the Reds... Actually imo that wouldn't be bad. Reynolds like Brantley is a very good commentator and really knows the game.
October 5, 200619 yr Actually imo that wouldn't be bad. Reynolds like Brantley is a very good commentator and really knows the game. I know I would love to have Reynolds here he was one of my favorite people to listen to on baseball tonight, and I guess he is looking for a job since what happened at ESPN. I dont think we will even try though since it said we want a former Reds player in the booth...
October 10, 200619 yr Thom Trivia: Thom's mother (may she rest in peace) was married to a former NBA player. Who is he? No takers on this one? Answer: Former UC Bearcat player and announcer Derrick Dickey

October 10, 200619 yr You would think I would know that one. I have been friends with his two sons for a long time... True story: Derrick used to work for a customer of mine in Cincy while he was also calling UC games. During one broadcast, he incorrectly said that the refs missed an over-and-back call. I was able to find his home address and sent him a complimentary note about his broadcasts and then mentioned that he had erred and proceeded to explain the rule to him. A week later, I'm watching UC and DePaul on SportsChannel and the same scenario occurs. This time, he corrects his parter that its not an over-and-back. He proceeds to say "I received a nice letter from CSHS81 explaining the rule. Thanks to him for that note." My phone starts ringing with buddies saying "Did I just hear what I thought I heard?" 2 minutes of fame...
