October 4, 200619 yr Author That is a twist I hadn't heard previously. I wonder if they will also rotate / experiment with a 3-man booth as well? I've heard talk of the Bad Boy joining the TV crew as well...
October 4, 200619 yr I've heard talk of the Bad Boy joining the TV crew as well... Where is that vomit emoticon?
October 4, 200619 yr I've heard talk of the Bad Boy joining the TV crew as well... Have Stewart on the TV side with Thom...Thom moves over the Radio side while dear old Dad takes a break...Will there be a third guy?
October 4, 200619 yr Author From Lancaster... The Reds today hired Thom Brennaman to join their radio and TV broadcast teams and signed him to a four-year contract through 2010. Thom will be in the radio booth for "selected" broadcasts alongside his father and also will do television. I would expect Thom to do play-by-play for 45 games on FSN Ohio, though that wasn't specified by the Reds. I still expect a former player -- perhaps Jeff Brantley -- to be hired for the radio gig, as Thom probably will only do 45-50 games there. To clarify: When FSN decided to go from 100 to 145 games, Grande and Welsh were still slated to do only 100, which is what both of them wanted. So the Reds will need some other combo in the TV booth for the other 45 games, which is where Thom fits in initially, I would guess. They're still going to need someone else on TV for those 45 games, plus a radio person for about 110-120 games -- probably an ex-player.
October 4, 200619 yr Hopefully for Reds fans (and I think it will be the case), they will be more exciting than the Carey father-son tandem in Atlanta. Have you ever heard the comedian on Bob and Tom doing Skip Carey? Classic.
October 4, 200619 yr Have you ever heard the comedian on Bob and Tom doing Skip Carey? Classic. No, but would love to hear that. Could you imagine Skip and Harry in the booth together? That would be the broadcast from hell.
October 4, 200619 yr This should open the door for Nuxy to do a few more games. I would like to see Nuxy be the permanent replacement for Thom during home games that he is gone. I wouldn't want to ask Nuxy to make all the traveling to do away games.
October 4, 200619 yr Nice fit. Be interesting to se who the 3rd person may be. Maybe it could be a Brennaman family thing and Marty brings his daughter to do the games that Thom isn't able to do. Hey, the Yanks have a female in the booth and she does a good job. Why not Cincy? :sssh:
October 4, 200619 yr News conference at 4:00. Signs a 4 year deal...   Thom will be great.
October 4, 200619 yr Hopefully for Reds fans (and I think it will be the case), they will be more exciting than the Carey father-son tandem in Atlanta. Watching paint dry or grass grow would be more exciting than those two.
