You know it has to be frustrating for MLB hitters to see low to mid 90's all day long and look silly on a 72 mph yacker... BTW, if he were in a Reds uni next year you could could count on me being at a lot more games next year. We'll just have to make sure that Ms. Gametime isn't there or you won't watch any of the ballgame.

October 3, 200619 yr As someone totally from the outside this is how I see it. If you trade Dunn you are going to get a developing #1 that has shown some potential, but isn't quite there yet. Basically you are giving up on the chance to make the postseason IMHO. Now if somehow you got a legit #1 then it's the correct move. But honestly I don't see it happening. I saw it somewhere in this thread and they are on the money, Dunn's main issue is he doesn't get the protection he needs. HSSB is correct the Reds need to get a stud at 2B or SS. I don't know if they will spend the money, but Tejada and Soriano should be 1a and 1b on their list of potential free agent signings. But I don't like the Reds and am just a casual observer, so what do I know? :creepy:

The decision of Phillips, if he plays 2nd or moves to SS, will be the big key on acquisitions for infielders.

His talent would be a plus though. I agree on the Phillips location, determines whom the Reds pursue for middle infield. If I was GM, I would pursue SS Michael Young of the Rangers. Very good offensive numbers, steady defensively and relatively affordable in today's market $3.5mil±.

I don't know if I follow correctly but if I understand your post, then I will respectfully disagree that the Reds and BP need to come to a decision about his position other than to perhaps see how he feels about playing SS. His ability to do both makes the Reds much more flexible in the FA market with regards to available players such as Michael Young as S3 has pointed out. BP can no doubt be a gold glove 2B and possibly a gold glove caliber SS, but his flexibility to play both will be a benefit IMO this year. Not to mention that some of the bigger deals are done at winter meetings and there is virtually no reason IMO to pigeonhole BP before then to a particular infield spot. If I were GM I would "pencil" him in one or the other and have the eraser handy if the right FA deal came across the board!
